One Bloody Awful Day

Featured Replies

(Goes on for abit im afraid)

Started out getting up late!

I get into my car, turn the key and nothing!!!!

I did all the nomal checks, eg battery etc etc, all was ok!

So after 10 mins of head scratching i decided to call out the AA Skoda Assist!

At the time of the call it was 8:45 am, the AA man turned up at 10:30, i was not amused!

The guy from the AA said it was something to do with my key not sending out the correct ignition codes or something!!! - I am resonably technically minded and i thought this was a little unlikely, anyways the AA man said he would have to call out a tow truck to tow me to my local dealer!

11:45 the 2nd AA man arrives, he asks me for my spare key and i give it to him and after about ten mins he got it started, but the engine management light was on and my power steering wasnt working!

The AA man said he wouldn't tow me to the garage as the car was working and was drivable, which i thought was rather mean!

Anyways he abruptly left and i had to make my own way to the dealer!

Two mins down the road the car starts to beep like mad, and it goes into limp mode!

By this time its about 12:30, and i am driving the bloody thing at 30mph all the way from my house to the dealer which is about 15 miles!

I finally get to the dealer and after having to sit in the reception for 2 hours, the service guy comes out and tells me that there was no fault codes registered and it must of been a MINOR glitch!!!! He said he cant do anything as the warranty claim would be thrown out, he also said the car couldnt be road tested as there was no fuel in there, even though the computer said i had 50 miles to go till empty!

He then bascally said goodbye!

I am really annoyed by the rubbish i have been fed today, i would like to know what you guys think i should do?? I hope this all makes sense and your not all bored to death!

Oh and my car is a Fabia vRS 2003 Model!

Many thanks Jase.

sounds a bit odd that, surely low fuel wouldn't cause all those random faults/beeps?

Limp mode was always triggered by a fault I thought? i.e overboost or something wrong in the engine system.

Is it still repeating the symptoms? If you could show a key wasn't working, then thats reason enough to get a new one. If I had no PAS and was in limp mode , I'd be pretty pi55ed off to be told nothing was wrong. :grumpy: Bloody IS!

I've had my car go limp and no fault code register. When I managed to get it to happen twice fairly quickly (after turning ignition on then off again on the fly!) it then put the eng man light on and said it was overboosting

the service guy comes out and tells me that there was no fault codes registered.

Now Jason I think both you and I know that isn't the truth ;) or did he mention that one?

Did you have anything plugged in at the time?

I unplugged my tuning box a few days ago as it went in for the interior fan motor being replaced and i didnt plug the thing back in, and they cleared the fault code i had then.

I was thinking though, could the AA guy done something to trigger it into limp mode????

The AA guy should have been able to check for fault codes anyway, the guy did when I called him out to mine.

They should have really towed you to the garage as the skoda AA assist will cover you for that, regardless if it was running or not, atleast they offered that to me.
