Scuffed Underside

Featured Replies

Hi All, looking for some advice on how to repair the underside of my Roomster.

Not sure how, but I have managed to scuff the paint off on a small part of the underside tray of the car, it is not a section you can see without a mirror- but I want to protect it from corrosion. The current covering is a black matt ?paint?

Do you have any suggestions as how, or what to use to repair.

Many Thanks - Mike

Where about ?  Can't you just use some black underseal ?

Hi Aubrey,

Done some further research and it appears some HYCOTE Underbody Paint (or similar) is the thing to use.

All a bit new to me so was not sure where to start looking.

Thanks, M

You can't supply a photo? I have a large plastic factory-fitted plastic sheet for protection under the floor so have you rubbed this? I noticed some bright exposed metal work at the rear of the front suspension arms. It could have been where the tyre fitters positioned the jack when I had the fronts replaced (nearside). I painted the exposed metal edge with Wickes black metal paint.

Hi , ed...

Hi edbostan, the Christmas rush is settling down so had a bit more time to inspect the damage and take a photo.

My first look the base did look to be metal that looked to be scraped back, now I take a photo it is looking very different  - and as you point out plastic.

Feeling a bit of a chump, but your observations and comments were useful. So thanks for the help.

Now I have the paint I probably will touch it up but probably  okay  as it is.

Pleased to see that you scraped plastic and not metal. The Roomster is the first car I have had with this underbody protection.
