Potential Karoq Owner - Advice

Featured Replies

Currently looking for a replacement car for my wife. She was initially interested in a Tucson or a Sportage which was then narrowed down to a Tucson. However, as a Superb owner, which I love, I suggested a look at the Karoq. After test driving today, she liked it and it seems we can get a good deal with PCP deposit contribution with looking at paying it off in full within the first 14 days.

We are currently looking at the 1.0, probably the DSG over the manual. However having read this forum, I am not sure whether this is going to be a gamble with the problem that seem to be happening and the attitude Skoda seem to have towards issues. Are the "kangerooing" issues only on the 1.5? Are there any reports on the 1.0?

Appreciate any input.

So it seems,1.0 is ok,so far!

1.0 TSI is pretty well proven now, it's a tough little engine.

The kangarooing and flat spot issues are affecting the relatively new 1.5 TSI engine only.

I have the 1.0  TSI with DSG, nippy little thing, no problems with Kangaroos or Wallabies  :D:D;)

Don't buy 1.5tsi manual - see posts on 1st gear issues - rejecting a duff car under PCP finance can be vvv complicated.

When the Kangaroo appears have instructed SWMBO to put her foot down and run them over as they make tasty burgers! She drives the infamous 1.5Tsi manual Karoq an endangered species and becoming even rarer by the day in Blighty thanks to VW software/fuel saving over enthusiasm.:whew:

How is the rejection going ?

I wish you well, if mine was on finance I would be trying the same course. Having paid in full for mine, leaving it at the dealers whilst the arguments go on would be a major concern. Holding money back from the finance company is at least a bit of a lever.

Lots of praise for the 1.0 on here......though whilst I have one on order I’m a little concerned the small engine option went ‘missing’ for a good few weeks recently (new testing business I assume) I just hope the unit hasn’t been throttled with any new emission paraphanalia? Only time will tell with the first ones being delivered end of March time.

Have you gone for the manual of Dsg? I'm currently torn between the two. I have the superb DSG and love it, 6 years old and going strong. But then reading on here, the advise is to go for the 2 year extended warranty.

Wife currently drives a manual so I was just wondering how the manual performs compared to the DSG?

It has, all WLTP approved petrol engines are now fitted with a GPF (Gasoline Particulate Filter).

But the $64,000 question is; Has the addition of the GPF had any noticeable affect on the way the Karoq drives?

I might be wrong but I don't think we've seen any 1.0 units with GPF on the road yet?

Who knows. The 1.5 TSI is now being built with the GPF, if the 1.0 TSI is back in production, then it too will have a GPF.

As with a lot of internet discussions we're missing a lot of information about these cars that claim to be affected. We don't even know how many there are, let alone if they're MY19 vehicles with WLTP approval and therefore the GPF.
