Ignition broken/ key stuck

@daiced - I agree with Ricardo that a mechanical ignition key can't get stuck in the lock because of an immobiliser fault.

I just find it odd that the immobiliser, starter motor and the ignition switch would fail at the same time.

Well, given your account of the efforts required to extract the key, I suspect that you damaged the induction loop for the immobiliser and/or the ignition switch (different thing to the lock barrel) when removing the key.

Other than being a possible coincidence (there is no standard failure pattern) I would take into consideration a transitory power surge that messed with the immobilizer/ECU. Anyways, that is less important.

Okay, so i've got my answer. Vag com gave 2 fault codes, which of course were VCDS-Lite Version: Release 1.2
Friday, 18 January 2019, 12:05:17.
Control Module Part Number: 1H0 953 257 B
  Component and/or Version: IMMO VWZ3Z0Y0276545 V00
           Software Coding: 09600
            Work Shop Code: WSC 13765
                      VCID: 2A2781ABC5E7
1 Fault Found:
01128 -  Immobilizer Pickup Coil (D2)
        35-00 -   -

and

So is there any troubleshooting needed or should i just switch it out to begin with?

See what I highlighted; that looks very much like your VCDS report!

Do you know what the funny part is... When i took apart everything and gain access to the induction loop, it was indeed damaged with wires visibly  hanging out.... So yeah you were 100% correct.

I've been to the scrapyard and picked up a new one. As soon as i get back home on monday i'm gonna try it out and hopefully it should solve the issue :D

Troubleshooting

I connected the multimeter to the induction loop and nada it's completely dead. So i'm gonna replace it and see what happens.

That is exactly what errors reported by VCDS Lite point to. I'm old school, I first look for evidence then and only then act/swap parts.

After replacing the loop, erase the errors in ECU.

PS. You might wanna read my signature now.

YEEESSSS!!!

Finally thanks to RicardoM and KenONeill, my skoda is up and running. It all came down to the induction loop.

So here is how i understand the situation then only real problem was the ignition switch which caused the starter to fail. And during my attempt to remove the key from the ignition i must have damaged the induction coil which cause the car to not start when the starter was replaced.

Wow i've learned a hole lot during this adventure with the car.

But seriously thank you, i can now use the car a little while longer before it meets it's final resting place

:D
