New WLTP fuel consumption and emissions figures

Featured Replies

Skoda Denmark has published new information about consumption, emissions etc. and prices are updated.

As an example:

Our 1,5 TSI DSG is registered at 19,7 km/l. I guess it is according to the old NEDC.

Officially it should be 17,9 km/l, as that was what it said in the brochure/web at the time we got the Karoq (November 2018). And that should be WLTP (NEDC correlated).

New WLTP lab test on Skoda’s website now says 13,698 km/l!

That is very disappointing but is close to what the onboard computer tells us. Welcome to the real world.

Yes about real world if my math is correct that is around 38 Mpg which I am getting an average of 39 MPG and sometimes 40 depending on trips...

No where near the 50 Mpg figures in the fantasy brochures. Seems like this new testing is a step in right direction.

My long-term mpg is 36 but most days it is mid 20's to low 30's. Ho hum nature of the beast when your commute is 9 miles. Electric next me thinks.

Mine is roughly the same mpg in the manual, and only a 7 mile commute.

A hybrid or full electric would be perfect for me as we have charging points in work too.

My 1.6TDI SEL in permanent sport mode doing consistent 54-59mpg despite cold weather, heated seats on and relatively short journeys.

More than happy with this and only done 1500mls so still tight.

Hi Bobspence just an observation about sports mode, when you have it permanently in Sports mode does it show the gears as S1 etc... Or D1 etc...

I had sports mode selected but it shows D1 and only if you switch to sports via the gear stick does it truly move into the S gears...

I am still experimenting with the modes to see if they really make any MPG difference.

My Karoq is pre WLTP however with regard to the mode selection the engine and DSG box revert back to "Normal" each time the ignition is switched on

So whilst it may say "Sports" for "Normal" or even "Eco" on the infotainment unit the engine and gearbox are not .... slightly confusing an probably a 'feature' of the ECU and mechatronics in the DSG.  Here is how I use the modes in my car

Normal: round town, nothing special driving just getting from A-B.

Sports: Country lanes.  Just fun to drive with great acceleration and tight steering

Eco: Motorway or A-roads.  You will also notice that if you lift off the accelerator in this mode both of the DSG clutches disengage and the engine returns to idle.  This is great for long gentle downhill roads as the mpg goes through the roof when you are doing 60mph+ with the engine idling at 750 rpm!

Remember that the modes also affect the steering and air conditioning and if you have the right option pack fitted (not as standard on the SEL) the ride as well (i.e. mode 'Comfort')

I find the biggest impact on MPG is the right foot and how hard I push down the accelerator and the aircon.  The majority of my daily commute is motorway so sitting at 65mph with cruise control on the air con is the only real thing I can do to influence the mpg.

Mine is manual and stays in sport mode once selected. I've experimented with ECO Normal and sport + individual and sport gives an excellent blend of performance and economy in the 1.6TDI. I also prefer the firmer steering with less assistance.

Dave / Bob thanks for the clarifications I will certainly experiment more with Eco mode as suggested by Dave.

Lot's of technology to get used to and understand. It is a bit confusing on info system saying Sport mode when in reality it is Normal...
