I beg to differ my vRS is in the garage every night alongside my Mrs's Mini Clubman

Personally I let the car decide and leave the A/C on - the only time that it gets switched off is if my Mrs has a cough and as sometimes it dries the air out too much in the Summer, causing her to cough more.

Yeah me and SWMBO have had a nasty cough following a cold before Xmas and the climate control doesn't help with this. Nice to see at least one person on here doesn't have a garage full of junk/clutter.:o

Haven't got one, I'm a Postie therefore, I Fn hate junk mail & those Tommy Tuckers (yes that is rhyming slang) of the supermarkets always send their junk mail for Saturday delivery.   Po

  • The CO2 is going to increase massively when the true numbers are made public next year. CO2 is directly proportional to fuel consumption. Not sure all Diesels are getting ad blue, the larger ones yes.

  • Good God, don't start that argument again!

I don’t know anyone that deliberately leaves the air con on permanently another surprise from this place.

Every vehicle I have owned since 1999 has had climate control, and I have left them on 365 days per year.

My wife used to comment that her Fabia took much longer to demist in Winter than when I drove it - so I showed her how much quicker it delisted with the air con on...

I didn't say that it wasn't full of junk/clutter (well according to my Mrs - until I manage to lay my hands on something that I need to fix a problem in the bungalow - LOL) it is just well organised junk/clutter on racking that still leaves enough room for two cars :D

Each to their own. Just a pointless  waste of fuel, energy and wear and tear to me. Have never had problems with misting up as long as its kept off, only after turning air con off does it mist up for a while. Have to turn the heater up to burn away all the water the air con has swimming around in it, once cleared, no more misting up. Never had misting up before air con so why would you have it if left off now? Plus I never turn the fan off even in manual heater. How many cars do you see driving along misted up completely, guarantee the fan is off.

Indeed each to their own.

But seeing as the threads title was about WLTP then it is not supposed to be about Each to their own, it is about a Worldwide Harmonized testing / & the testing regime that some World Regions / Countries are not accepting or or giving two hoots about because they know the EU Governments let manufacturers take the pith.

Let them still commission the test establishments.   Only when vehicles are retested independently say after 3 years will we know just who has been at it, rather than random new cars arriving say off transporters into the UK being tested.

World Regions with High Humidity usually have Owner Manuals recommending.  'Keep on the A/C and the windows closed'.

There never was and still has not been enough said about the Derogation rules & end of life vehicles and the 10% of 2017's production or is that registrations being allowed to be First Registered after August 2018.   & if any Manufacturers / Importers have cheated with that, or still are at it.

Just announced New Car Sales in the UK in 2018 fell by 7% compared to 2017. WLTP must have contributed to this as well as the April 2017 VED increases forcing some motorists to hang onto £30 per year cars longer than they had initially intended.

UK 'First Registrations' were very liable to drop as the 'delays' in delivery and lack of availability of models and BREXIT uncertainty kicked in.

Then surely the UK Government fantastic 'Public Transport' system improvements kicked in and the 'travel green'  walk and cycle will have had an affect.

New Technology and people working from home or 'Commercial Travelers' / Reps not needing to trawl up and down the countries roads.

Or was it also to do with 'Motability' the UK's biggest Group Buyer of cars to lease for 3 years buying less cars as the 'PIP' assessments had more people losing Mobility component'

so not getting on the Motability Scheme or having tens of thousands of cars repossessed and having to take the £2,000 they got, benefits and free VED taken away and them needing to buy cheaper used car.

Private individuals should be able to keep cars well past the Manufacturers Warranty if the Manufacturers build better cars.

Business / Commercial / Fleets should be encouraged to 'change vehicles' less often.

The Car Dealers / Manufacturers should not be 'given the golden goose' by being able to Firsat Register Hundreds of thousands of 'Demonstrators' to then flog as 'Used / Ex Management'  and benefiting with the UK Government / HMRC letting them profit more than they should be allowed to.

ie, Take the Pith of the General Public / Tax Paying Public.

Your spot on with the derogation rules. I was in the middle of changing two cars and asked the associated dealers exactly what the score was with none wltp approved cars still for sale after June 1st. Not one of them had a clue, they said they would just keep doing as before and sell them! I found out the exact situation by emailing the vehicle certification agency getting a link to the info in reply and once I knew what I was doing picked up two pre wltp cars with huge discounts and interest free PCP's. Neither are VAG. VAG stopped production of cars awaiting approval in preparation for it long in advance of it, as you know if you tried to get hold of a VRS etc late 2017 onwards as I did. Still a lot of performance versions of cars not available yet. This is approval delays but also the fact that under 6.2 temp leading to 6.2D the manufacturers have to  meet a combined overall CO2 limit for all models added together and averaged out. They are very careful with the big emitters now, especially as the C02 will be considerably higher next year,  limiting them to one or possibly two versions max and lots of small engined low emitters, electric and hybrids in the mix to keep the figure within the limit.

Availability of performance models will get worse over the next couple of years as Manufacturers average CO2 will have to drop from the current range 130 to 95 which will mean they will be keen to sell more EV and hybrids to make the numbers add up directly affecting what they are prepared to manufacture and market.:o

Suzuki Type Approved and Launched and are selling in the EU / UK in limited numbers the 1.5 Petrol N/A New Jimny with ridiculously high C02g/km figures.

(probably more honest figures than other manufacturers got their vehicles tested and certificated at.)

Higher for the New Jimny with the Autobox than a Cupra Ateca 300ps Petrol with DSG.

Higher than many vehicles, but Suzuki are limiting the number of these High Emission Vehicles to average out with their Lower Emitting Models of Petrol & Diesels.

It is a manufacturer taking the pith of the system, just as manufacturers of Prestige and less prestige vehicles are doing since August 2018.

Exactly 400BHP Volvo SUV with CO2 under 50 not really going to save the planet except help those that can afford to chose as cheap company car.
