Featured Replies

Hi all just looking for a little help, basically been getting oil sealing out of the Egr, and today been under the car and seen the boost pipes like this, I'm not sure if this is all built up residue or weather leak or if turbo is on way out.

From what I can tell its not down on power holding boost arou t 19psi not dropping and no blue or grey smoke.

That looks like external oil fouling from a leak, not the turbo.

Ah OK I hope so I know it's leaking from the 2 little holes in top of Egr, do you think I shoild replace the bottom boost hose?.

I think you should fix the EGR system and clean all that oil up.

It looks like it could just be where the IC pipe seals are not sealing correctly any more, allowing a small amount of oil out which accumulates from the crank case breather venting into the intake system. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it's really dripping. You could clean it all up and then keep an eye on where its coming from.

Very normal. Easiest thing to do is the elephant hose mod. That stops the oil vapour from the rocker cover entering the intake system. Then a good idea is to take the bumper off remove the intercooler, pipes and egt valve. Clean them up and your good to go. Will also keep your egr valve from gunking up.

I wouldn't.  Think it was darkside who did a test on it proved it was actually more harmful than just leaving the standard setup in place. Turbo helps draw out the vapours from the crankcase to stop it being pressurised. It does stop the egr getting so blocked but then again most people usually blank the egr anyway to stop further issues.

In all the years I've been on here, and all the people who've done the mod including myself I've never heard of any problems being associated with this. I ran my elephant hose mod for 7years on my first vRS.

And from the amount of vapor you can see chugging out the hose there no chance of anything getting pressurised.
