Watched the video that comes with the kit and it appears to be quite versatile, especially the EGR part. A lot of info that is available that would normally require a VCDS user.

That's what I thought too. I have Hex Net, but having this sort of info and ability in the DIS would be very useful for my needs on a daily basis.

Hello.

Yes I used to have one on my 57 plate (MY08) Octavia 1.9 TDI.

I had fitted a Columbus to it so a big advantage for me was that it gave me reverse sensor display and climate display which woulnd't normally work on a pre-facelift.

The dipping of the mirror on reverse was also a nice touch.

You can customize the blinks of the one-touch indicators which was really handy.

This was my 0-60 time :D:

It shows in the MFD like this:

I really liked it an really enhanced the functionality of the MFD. It was very easy to fit with just unplugging and plugging connetors in. A little fiddly on mine as the control module was tucked way back behind the steering wheel somewhere but I know this location varies by model and year.

Bet they are still not cheap, used over £100 when they come up. Do you need a Columbus upgrade too?

I already have a Columbus running latest FW and battery discharge fix VIM, what other update do you have in mind?

Out of interest, and before you het banned, what is the battery dishcarge fix? Seem ti be having a bit of it myself.

Reasearch suggests turming off columbus manually and investingating seat switches for water ingress.

The battery drain fix basically downgrades a part of the firmware of the columbus from what I remember. I was ok with mine as mine was an MY08 it already had the required gateway.

I also remember having to install an additional fix on mine as it would get stuck on the MFD screen until I turned the stereo off and back on again.

What I meant was did you need to upgrade your head unit to take advantage of the polar-fis gadgetry. Looks like you have it all and the polar will top it off.

If you don’t mind saying what does the polar-fis unit cost?

There was a link to it here yesterday - I'm pretty sure it was listed as €250 euro   (eBay seems to be £245 - £255 in your money).

(EDIT - Doh! It was posted on Sunday - first post of this thread has the link!)

Thanks must have missed that.

Following this 3T thread with interest.

In case anyone's interested VAG cars aren't the only car that such a device has been devloped for.

I also have a similar device on my Saab that gives me all the same info on the dash and some diagnostics etc:

Although it's much easier to install (just plugs into the OBD port) and I managed to get one for just £60.

Dave do you know how to check for parasitic drain just by measuring volt drop across the fuses?  If not I will see if I can send you a PDF outlining the process. In the old days we used to put a bulb in series with the battery neg and if it lit, something was consuming current, If you do that these days, as soon as you disconnect the earth lead, you destroy any evidence as control units reset and the drain disappears. Even pulling a fuse while watching a current clamp does the same thing. Now what we do is measure mV across the fuse, I have some conversion tables and the circuit pulling the current shows up clearly allowing you to narrow down the circuit with the help on a CFD.
