I can't take mine on the track anyway so have no need for one LOL

Seriously Scotty I totally understand your position with your situation and there is a lot of banter from the original 245 owners purely because it was as NOAIM stated quite a significant step up in price from the Vrs230 base model at the time and came with a lot of extra equipment as standard. One aspect where your car is better however which I can confirm is the ride on the MY19 cars will be better than the Special Editions riding on their 19"alloys with 35 profile tyres. Since changing to 18" alloys for the winter with 225/40 tyres I have really been enjoying the more plush ride and we sacrifice a bit of comfort for the enhanced look and extra grip provided by the larger alloys. So Skoda were  brave to ditch the 19"alloys on your car but WLTP regulations probably forced their hand a little as well as wanting to reduce the price of the 245 model. Big thumbs up from me as probably the only MY18 Vrs245 owner to fit smaller alloys in the UK.

I simply view my car as the offspring of the 230 and special ed 245 producing mine as a hybrid of the two due to WLTP. I don't kid myself its anything more than an upgraded 230 but being realistic its so close to the running gear of the Special Ed 245, engine, brakes, gearbox (esp in 7 speed dsg form). If i painted the chrome tips black and fitted the same 19s 99% of people wouldn't know the difference, sure I notice the seats but they are just fine for OE sports seats.. they are a downgrade from my electric leather optioned seats I had in my Leon Cupra but my car is what it is a rental at the end of the day :)

The ride is really fine without DCC on 18s.. the only bit I don't like currently the Bridgestone OE tyres as I've said. I redid the pressures to 2.4 bar and had a solo spirited drive in the cold but dry before the end of last year and they do start to grip a little better once heat is in them but in the cold/damp/wet they need to do a better job. I'm still half in mind to swop them out for F1 Ass3s all round and store them in the garage until its time to hand the car back and get them refitted just before that.

To be fair I now have Pirelli P Zero's on and once you've taken the trouble to put some heat into them (not too difficult with 336bhp) through straight line acceleration and harder braking they perform OK and I really need to be trying to get the traction control light on. In the wet I have to be very careful applying the throttle enthusiastically as have seen the traction control light flicker at a barely believable 77mph in 3rd gear on a very wet surface. Always keep within the speed limits on wet roads as braking is obviously going to take longer and my last accident was 14 years ago when I ran into the back of a BMW330i Coupe who braked hard and my 2004 Seat Toledo 1.9TDi wasn't capable of slowing down as fast as the Beemer, OOPPSS!:tongueout:Realised I contradicted myself with the 77mph comment waits for folks to criticise me on that then.

I know about s**ty tyres in the wet.. In Dec 1998 180'd my 1994 318is 16v Coupe coming out of a roundabout 2 weeks into ownership into a mud bank. The car was provided on a bodged mismatch of tyres by the dealer I bought it second hand, for RWD its even more critical. The car only had 140bhp. Again I was driving briskly not stupidly for the conditions but it just snap oversteered as the rear lost traction. Very brown trouser moment. I went straight out and fitted the best I could afford set of decent rubber all round after the lucky escape.. the car got muddy and one tyre got puncture by the accident no one else involved. Zero issues after that and I also perfected my RWD technique with zero electronic aids to assist.

Funniest accident I saw was following a Lexus IS300 with the 3.0litre engine and RWD. He was so keen to show me how fast his car accelerated up the slip road onto the M1 at J21 going southbound he forgot how little traction he would have as he turned left and applied a bit too much power. As I watched from a safe distance behind him the back of his car snapped out and instead of trying to catch it he panicked and applied more throttle only to speed up the moment of impact with the crash barriers to our left. I always wondered why those crash barriers were there because it had seemed impossible to me for anyone to hit them until I actually witnessed someone do it. He spun round a couple of times completely destroying the front of the Lexus. He learned a very good lesson that day which is don't show off unless you have the skill required. As I slowed down and tiptoe'd through the carnage of his accident I didn't know whether to wave at him or laugh but decided to do neither as he was having a shi**y start to his day already.

Loving all the mods you've done so far and I know you have more planned when funds and SWMBO allow. Keep up the good work. Just have to make it as fast as mine LOL.:D

Thanks mate, just waiting on the Scorpion cat back and strut brace to be delivered, should be this week.

Yup I have more planned, and will do the small bits after payday, but SWMBO (Well SWTSMBO!!) has no say, her money and my money....., she just rolls her eyes  :D

Had mine serviced today at 18,487 miles and they sent the short video to my phone as I waited in reception. Guess the technician liked my Milltek full stainless exhaust as it featured quite a bit on his video. Even told the salesman Colin who sold me the car how flipping fast it is. Dealers are funny loads of paperwork with lots of green ticks yet told me next service (remember variable) due by 17/08/2018 (yes I typed the right date on the invoice). Got to love the lack of attention to details.:giggle:

Surprised to see the 2.0Tsi engine takes 5.7 litres of engine oil to refill from the technician's report, so even with dipstick barely registering still 4.7 litres left in the sump.

This also caught me by surprise on my first service. My MK2 facelift VRS TSI (Gen 2 EA888) took 4.6L and I assumed it was the same in the MK3 (Gen 3 EA888). Provided a 5L bottle of 5w30LL for the service only to get an unexpected call later in the day saying I was 0.7L short! Paid a small charge for an additional 1L bottle and kept the remainder for top ups (not needed).

On the plus side, under Skoda's pricing scheme a 5.7L VRS TSI oil change is charged at the same price as a Citigo or Fabia 1.0 (non-TSI) oil change that takes 3.4L. Even though the former costs the dealer slightly more in materials. This isn't just a Skoda thing either, the same applied when I had my 330D; BMW charge £129 regardless of whether you need 7.5L for a 330d or 5.2L for a 320d. The margins must be good and the oil cheap enough in bulk for it not to be an issue to dealers.

Well been nearly 2 months now and almost where I want it to be.

Only things left to do is rear window tints and a Scorpion downpipe and updated AMD map.

Couple of pics after a wash wash and polish this afternoon.

So little update after my first 2 weeks of ownership of my VRS 245, absolutely love it and honestly cannot find any faults or have any grumbles.

Couple of pics as updates so far, mods as per signature.
