Retrofit better screen

Featured Replies

I want to make 2 retrofits to my Superb.

1. Virtual cockpit.

2. Better screen.

I know that the virtual cockpit is possible but how about the better screen? I have found the screen that I want. Can I do it Plug and Play?

I think I have the smallest screen available. Posting picture of my screen today and the one I want to install.

VAG’s component protection will make it more difficult than that. You’ll need a legitimate way around it so it’ll be at least partly a dealer/VAG specialist job.

Both r difficult to do, as per the above post.

There is component protection required for both the virtual cockpit and the 9.2" screen.

U'll also need to upgrade the headunit in the glove box so it's compatible with the 9.2" screen.

Oh, and both expensive upgrades!!

I also want to change the screen, so be interested if anybody has successfully done this.

The referred screen is actually 8", its just the new glossy type with touch buttons. I have the same idea - to upgrade the old Columbus 8" screen to the newer Amundsen 8" screen and add the virtual cockpit.

Yep!

It's not the 9,2". That one has no buttons to the right.

I can get the screen for 350 euros. Wonder how much Skoda charge for the coding.

Does anyone know the name of the screen that I posted?

Its the standard Bolero screen from MY18 I think. The Amundsen screen part number is 3V0919605D.

Doesn't matter if it's the 8" screen, buttons or no buttons - it's the same process u go through with regards to the component protection.

A guy (@zei20t) here in Oz has successfully changed from the 9" Columbus screen (button version) to the newer 9.2" Columbus screen without buttons.

He has an MY16 280 Superb.

He'd b the best to give specifics in terms of complexity of the upgrade.

Screens don't have Component Protection, if the resolution of your old unit matches it should work
