Door mirror indicator lens replacement

Featured Replies

Does anyone have step by step instructions or better still a video showing how to replace a door mirror indicator lens on a Skoda Octavia 1.0 S hatchback (68 reg.)

If it's a 68 reg I'm assuming you want to replace it because of damage and not because it's faulty because that would be covered by the warranty surely.  Anyway, have a look here

It's a good how to on fitting dynamic indicators but the strip down and reassemble is the same.  I've just done this today on my Octavia and fitted the dynamic indicators.  Big improvement and they look coooooool  B)

Many thanks

Video looks very good, if a bit scary

It's not that bad to do really.  The scary bit is trying not to break the glass.  Lots of the forum members have also done this and as far as I know none have broken the glass.  Are you replacing the indicator because of damage and are you replacing it with the standard item ?  Not sure what the cost of a standard indicator would be but I just paid £47 for a pair of the dynamic ones that I fitted today.  That was from Aliexpress mind, so had to wait a couple of weeks.

I damage the lens, reversing into my garage. Absolutely sick.

Replacing with standard indicator.

Found one from skoda dealer who area are about 20 miles from home for £22.

Tempted to ask them to fit it

Ok. If it's a proper Skoda dealer I'd imagine they'd charge at least an hour labour.  What ever that'll be.  I did both mine today in less than an hour.  Not sure where you are but maybe there is a forum member not far from you who'd give you a hand for beer tokens.  If you were near me I'd do it for you.

I am based in Durham.

Any offer of help would be greatly appreciated.

I replaced mine with the Dynamic indicator earlier this week. Was straightforward enough - the glass removes easily and will not break (so long as you don't drop it). Broke a couple of clips/tabs removing the other parts of the wing mirror though to get to the indicator. Superglued them back on and all good. Would suggest to wait for a day where it isn't cold, and the plastic won't be as brittle.

If you can't get any help near to you I could give you a hand one day next week.  I'm in Northumberland just 12 miles north of Newcastle.

I followed this video when I fitted my LED puddle lights and found it very useful.  As above, pulling the mirror glass is the scary bit :whew:

Thanks for the offer.

I will order the lens, so I have it, but will delay fitting it until I have fitted a new (wider) garage door.

How can I contact you to arrange to come to you for fitting?

Midweek during the last week in January or first week in February might be favorite.

Just PM me when you're ready.  I'm just starting to do some major decorating now that'll take several weeks so might be in the middle of it then but we'll sort something out.

That is great. There is no urgency.

All I need to do is work out how to PM you.
