2006 Octavia 2 Estate PFL LED Conversion

Featured Replies

Hi all,

First of all, I'm sorry if my grammer isn't right.

I have an pre facelift octavia 1Z5 (which has reflector headlight housing) and I want to upgrade my headlights, tail lights, fog lights, mirror indicator lights, and all interior lights from Halogen to LED.

I've been searching for a long time. Surfed on ebay, aliexpress, gearbest etc... (Im in Belgium)

For example;

But WAIT! Please don't run away, I need your HELP!

I'm confused about which to buy. I guess interior is fine but espically for headlights and tail lights should I buy canbus ones? What should I especially check before I buy? Do you think chinese ones are good or waste of money?

And I'm totally exhausted as usual. Do you think LED's worth to buy (Especially for reflector housing low beam and high beam)? Or going for Osram Night Braker Laser, Philips X-tremeVision kind halogen bulb is a better option? Anyone has experiences with LED Conversion?

Thanks for Help

Best Regards

You and I seem to be treading the same path regarding the aircon system, headlamp upgrade and desire for LED internal lighting.

I did not fit LED's but a cheap Ali-Express HID kit which I am very pleased with, you will need the can bus compatable type to avoid bulb warning error codes.

I have swopped over to LED internal lights and just fitted the last ones this morning after they arrived, I can confirm that if canbus compatible bulbs are not used in the door puddle lights it will generate a bulb failure fault code, I dont know if its true for the courtesy lights, reading lights and luggage compartment lights as having learnt from the puddle lights I ordered only Canbus compatible leds, they were still very cheap so not worth the risk.

As an aside I used to be amused by those posting about their desire to change every bulb to LED but after having a standard festoon bulb for the courtesy light with LEDS either side of it for the reading lights I did exactly the same when I could see just how weedy the illumination was from the yellow light and how bad it looks against the white light of the leds.

I wont be continuing to the rear lights and indicators though.

Do you still have details of the ones you bought, please?

It seems to be a common fault. Thanks for your help in that topic either.

Thank you for links. My octy has reflector headlight housing. So, HID isn't for me I suppose?

No it absolutely is for you! I think the results on non projector lamps are only marginal.
