Mirrored door switches after door control module change - any ideas?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

you may have seen from another thread that i accidentally fried the driver door control module, rendering the windows / mirror switches inoperative along with the driver side door locks.  After no luck in finding a replacement, i ended up buying a replacement unit from the dealership that they guaranteed would work.  I've plugged this in today and everything is now working again, but all the switches are mirrored.  All the drivers window and mirror switches work the passenger side and vice-versa.

Any ideas on what could cause this and how to fix it? Is it a coding thing or a hardware thing?

Thanks

The module is probably coded for LHD instead of RHD. You'll need diagnostics to correct this.

Thanks for the response.

The dealership have rung and said they may be able to code it but there's no promises and they will charge me £144+VAT, even though they sold the box to me as plug and play.  They said they accept they said it was plug and play so if I want they will buy the box back off me, but the charge to code it will be charged.

Not surprising: diagnostics are a fixed charge. If you had paid them to fit it, they'd have done the coding as part of the job.

Have a look here: you might find someone near you with VCDS to help you out.

Thank you very much.  Otherwise I might look at getting VCDS myself and trying to work it out, although i may do more harm than good.

Or drive over to me, I would need some help with what to do but I have vcds and only about 45 mins from you.

That’s very kind thank you, I’ll def keep that in mind. I unfortunately have no experience of vcds so not sure I could help but at the moment someone closer has kindly offered to help.
