Uprated SMIC question?

Featured Replies

Hello ppl! I want to buy a good looking yellow Vrs 2004. The car is mapped to 185hp on BONE STOCK parts and has 250k km. It drives super fine. My friend was with the owner when I went for a test drive. He said when I put my foot down it in first gear smoked like a chimney and did a cloud of smoke :)  Will the oem SMIC be Ok with my driving style: I don't do track days or drive like a lunatic on  winding country roads. I do drive want to drive fast and accelerate hard on freeways and when overtaking.... I want to keep the remap, but don't want to blow dough on an expensive  Fmic, EGR deletes and whats not. If  the oem smic won't be enough, would this be enough for 185hp? If so, is this P&P?  Cheerz

The dude in the pics measured different diameters for the hoses holes in the pics, 51.97 and 60.65 respectively and made a point of showing it for a reason! Any ideas how to solve this?

I can safely say if it's a completely stock car them it's not 185bhp. More likely 165bhp.

The standard intercooler is ok for remaps, it does stuff from heat soak after a couple of pulls

@robotechshadow - Look inside the front end of the RHF wheel arch. If there are signs of someone having cut a vent (or drilled holes) there, the standard SMIC will be OK for the sort of  service you describe.

Doing hard pulls in first gear is dumb, short shift to second ASAP, you'll find it accelerates much harder and it's much better for the drivetrain.

As stated there is no possibility of 185 BHP on the stock turbo, 165 BHP is about right, changing the intercooler on a diesel doesn't increase power, it simply let's you use the power you already have for longer.

The smoke could be a boost leak. Check all the connections as that won’t cost you anything to rule out if it isn’t that.
