Today I bit the bullet, Ordered myself a 280

Featured Replies

After visiting Alex Lawrie Skoda Liverpool on Saturday, and test driving a sportline 220 dsg I finally made my mind up and have been back today to order my 40th birthday present to myself,

So I'm now (almost ) officially a Skoda owner, now just the hard bits, waiting for it to come, and then paying for it,

Congrats on joining the 272 order club! I assume 272 is what you meant as no 280 any more, technically at least as I'm sure it'll be making 280 or more on a dyno in typical VAG fashion.

Waiting and paying are the easy bits, going through the online configurators and settling on a spec is the real struggle these days with 4 pages of optional equipment... :D

Very nice, I like the meteor gray a lot, only reason I did not pick it was it's not metallic. Which head unit you went for? Sorry not up to date with what comes standard on UK Sportlines.  Also, no DCC right? I think that was a good choice, even though I got it on mine (and now regretted it). You can throw any aftermarket coilover you like afterwards...

I went for the sportline plus trim , it comes with the Columbus head unit, I was under the impression the maps wouldn't show on the dash and head unit simultaneously with the lesser radios same as in the golfs

Congrats. This might be one of the last reasonably affordable full ICE large estate car that is quick before it all turns hybrid and what not.

Cheers, yea after looking at lots of cars I think the superb 272 is probably the best value for money performance estate, and the engine has good potential for tuning too

Meteor Grey; what an awful colour! oh wait...

Congrats on the order, you’ll love it!

Excellent! Good choices all round. You'll absolutely love it. I've had mine for 2 months and 2.5k miles and loved every minute so far

Royal Navy will have to start using Petrol Blue to paint their battleships soon with all the primer which Skoda are buying.:giggle:

Then they will blend into the sea isn't it? And the sky as long as it's blue... Hehheh

Congrats on the order, you will not be disappointed   That must be mightily close the 40K!   Think you made a good call ordering the integrated towbar, its the one thing I am regretting not ordering, especially if you use bikes a lot.   I've put my roofbars on but  am considering taking off again - primarily aesthetics but MPG is also definitely a factor when it's already quite low (bars are ok but as soon as a 598 carrier goes on it noticeably drops off ).  Hope you don't have to wait too long!

Cheers guys, the dealer phoned today to say they managed to get me a production line upspecable car and I should get it by the end of march so not as long a wait as I thought,

The tow bar was a must have for me, the car is the first step towards getting a caravan ,on the road price for my spec was £40845 but the list price doesn't include the road fund license or extended warranty so it scrapes under the 40k UK additional road tax fees

Just been looking for a set of front and rear badges that I can paint black and meteor grey, anybody recommend a site for genuine ones

Good drills Ste.

Youll love the car mate.

I cant stop looking at mine and every journey is something to look forward to.

Best wishes pal

Have you checked here yet?

I am getting mine ordered soon in matching Quartz Grey, I believe yours is "Steel Grey" F7A, you can confirm the paint code with your order document.

They are OEM items painted to colour match the factory paints, plenty people run them in this forum.

I messaged superskoda, they only do the front badges, the only rear one is the Monte Carlo all black one

Do a search as I believe someone successfully fitted the 'front' SuperSkoda badges to the rear of their Superb.

I thought about the Monte Carlo badges to replace the rear chrome ones but only 'Skoda' and '4x4'  are available they don't seem to offer a 'Superb' badge.   Likely because they haven't done a Superb MC and those badges are available due to Fabia/Yeti.

I have the integrated towbar and I smile a little every time I lower it down :)  I've got a 4-bike tilting Buzzrack for it and it does make transport easier, and much less chance of damaging the car or the bikes.

@SteHaworth you will love it. Mine is 10 months and 7000 miles in now  and its still a pleasure every time.  Someone described the 280/272 as a 'Golf R in a tuxedo' and I recon thats not far off - its not a track day rocket by any means, but for a family car that is an effortless milemuncher and can handle itself on a B-road dash you'll find it hard to beat.

Don't know why they keep this info up, I thought the same originally. However I found out the badge is the same front and rear and it fits great according to @Boxerdog1  that has bought two of the same item in Business grey and installed them on his Sportline.

Does this mean you aren't getting all the options you wanted?

No, I think it means the one already scheduled for production can have the options Ive specked added to it without issue

My only worry now is that the supernova wheels may come in anthracite rather than the gloss black I want, dealer is hopefully chasing this up

Congrats, hope you ordered SLA headlights as you have traffic sign recognition
