Engine problems

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, I have a 2006 mk1 skoda fabia with the 1.4 16v engine, bbz I think it's called. I have a bit of an issue with it, when I'm stopped at a traffic light in idle the engine light starts blinking and the engine runs very rough, if I accelerate the problem persist and the car as very little power. If I restart the car the engine works fine when going at mid/high rpms. I borrowed a friend obd reader and I saw that there was a problem with the pressure in the intake manifold(map sensor or leak?), misfire in cilinder 2 and 4 and also a problem with the o2 sensor. Did any of you guys experience a similar thing or can anyone help?   Thank you very much!

Classic failing coil pack symptoms, in a perfect world you should replace all four, but just 2 and 4 will fix it for now.

Ok if that is the issue great, I will try switching the coil packs between cilinders and see if the missfire changes, if that is the case I will replace them

Can it be egr?

Yes, it can be lots of things, but misfires are generally always coil pack or spark plug related. Is it still misfiring?

yes, just at idle when the engine is hot. Can I check myself the egr valve? and what should I look for?

Oh, OK, so coil packs and spark plugs moved; but still cylinders 2 and 4 misfiring?

Check the brake servo vacuum hose for splits and leaks.
