In spite of no rain of recent days I've got a leak of water to the rear offside passenger floor

which I suspect  may be from the screen washing piping from the engine compartment to the rear window wiper.

Can anyone tell me where the tubing is routed and if this could be the answer.

Door seals and window seals are apparently sound ,and windows close fully.

 

The rear washer pipe runs along the near side.

Thank you TMB I'll have to find another source.

As i was damp during the hot weather also, I guessed that washing the Sahara

sand off the rear and front screens might be the cause.

I'm surprised that the reported leakages in the Mk1 Fabia haven't been identified as to their locality.

Obvious things could be faulty roofrack grooves  where they clip in, and gravity doing the rest, one of  my

next checks

They have and they are well known.

  

Front floor: Usually door carrier leaks or blocked scuttle drains

Rear floor: Usually door carrier leaks or rear washer pipe. The door carriers need the well-known remedial sealing treatment on all MK1 Fabias. They will leak if left factory standard.

Boot area: Can be rear washer pipe at tailgate.

The dead giveaway for door carrier leaks is puddles on the rubber seal at the bottom of the doorway, after rain.

 

Thank you WINO, I had been discussing this with TMB and had not tried the search facility! As it happens it has just been raining - lightly so far, and you are exactly correct to the photo- now to sort it properly!

Rear carriers..I used Loctite black sealant as per factory....just undo the bolts, leaver the carrier upwards/outwards about 2inches (still attached to door)..& scrape off the old stuff & use meths to clean..then put new sealant on the mating surface & bolt carrier down...& also do the bolts...

 

Only need to do 3/4 of the way "Up" the door..

Only very early Fabias had bolted on carriers, most have riveted on carriers. So need drilling out to remove and a rivet tool to fix back.

Iirc on my 2004 Fabia, the carrier seal was a poor foam bead applied on the carrier which ends up being a sponge. Really needs removing so carrier needs to come off and cleaned up.

 

Use a Low modulus Neutral (LMN) silicone sealant. Available at Toolstation, Screwfix and other places for a couple of quid.

There's no need to disturb the carriers at all. Just seal around them up to a good height.

Up to about 2003 I think. Mine has bolts.

Thank you tmb, xman, wino and fabdav;going to get started tomorrow most other cars I've owned had a plastic cover over the whole of the inner aperture, so all water was retained to drain through the bottomdrainage  holes, so will be interested to see in the flesh on this one. Plenty of silicone sealant available to do the job!!

When you remove the door card, the trim clips often break. It's always a good idea to buy some spare ones. They are pretty cheap...

Well cars all use different clips, so not sure Halfords would have suitable ones for a Fabia. 

 

On a separate note - not sure if you know how to remove the rear window winder handles (if it has them) but it's very easy, there is a plastic latch clip that you slide as shown here...
