Rear wiper stuck

Featured Replies

2016 OCTAVIA SE L TDI. Rear wiper stuck at 12 o'clock and washer not working.

Seems from reading this forum it is a very common problem!

Is there a fuse/relay I should be checking first?

If not ,is it covered by warranty (assuming new motor required)?

Many thanks.

Tim

Was fairly a fairly common problem for a Mk2. Mine failed at 7 yo just before trade in for my Mk3. Not heard of a Mk3 problem. Warranty should cover it.

It’s normally a 5a fuse that covers the wiper. There is a key on the fuse cover but also known for not been accurate.

It is a warranty item so get the work done right done straight away as mine went while in warranty and was reported to my dealer who couldn’t book me in until two days after my warranty expired and then refused to cover it.

Thanks guys. Warranty expires in 8 days so I better get on it!

If reported within the warranty period it should be covered regardless of whether looked at before or after the period runs out.  Not your fault they couldn't fit you in.

My argument exactly but DM Keith wouldn’t do the work without me agreeing to pay for it. Also tried to tell me the oil temp sensor needed replacing when they’d switched it off.

Luckily (for me) I fixed it. Well, I found that the washer nozzles were blocked and in clearing that and putting it back together it now works!

I gave up on trying to find the fuses inside the back of the glove box!! The pictures in the manual say to stick a screwdriver in to release a locking rod. Well, I couldn't find any locking rod to release! Making fuses that inaccessible seems crazy, or are theyt expecting that people don't do "old-fashioned" things like checking fuses?!

For future reference re: access to fuse box:

'Simply Clever' and changing a fuse. Two terms that will never meet where the latest Skoda's are concerned.

Thanks Plantman, useful.

I hate anything to do with removing plastic dashboards, panels, etc. I always come up against some mystery plastic clipping mechanism invented by the devil; once I have snapped it of course.

Give me nuts and bolts any day!

Clearing the washer nozzles will not have sorted your rear wiper problem.

You may still have a blown fuse or a defective wiper motor. Makes it difficult for the dealer to diagnose if you have somehow kicked it back to life.

I take your point, but clearly not a blown fuse. Perhaps the motor is on the way out. I will live with it working for now and take it to my local indie if it packs up again after warranty.
