Lowered the octavia.

Featured Replies

The Octavia went in for a little work yesterday and cam out at VRS ride height  The stiffer springs make such a difference to the way the car drives. Not so much in terms of cornering ability (ARB's still required) but in braking and acceleration.

Perviously the front lifted quite a lot under heavy acceleration, often resulting in a hammering noise as the TC tries to stop the wheels spinning. This is now dramatically reduced and the car pulls forward rather than upwards. I guess this is the effect of stoffer springs on the rear.

The stiffer front end helps braking confidence too.

I need to get the wheel saligned propperly for the new ride height but overall, I'm pleased with it.

Even SWMBO noted how it looks much better sat a little lower than it did before.

it gets better still with a proper set of coilovers lol...glad your happy though...

I'm not going to spend more than is strictly necissary on the car at the moment ;)

A new set of boots next week should give me a bit more confidence in the old jallopy too.

You still going for Toyo's?

I know many do, I'm just not aware of what is liked about them (more grip than most, etc?)

You knew it was coming, didn't you! :D

:wrthless:

Did you just change the springs mate? Where did you get them from?

Did you get them for a good price Phil??

Yep, just changed the springs for VRS ones, paid a local independent garage £40 to fit them

Another good side effect is that my suspension no longer creaks all the time. I think it has probably worn whilst riding at Elegance height over the last 95k miles and now its sat lower on an un-worn portion.
