Rear seat access hatch.

Featured Replies

Afternoon all, I have a 2016 SEL estate and have owned for the last 2 years. I've gone to use the rear access hatch which also flips down to be used as a drink holder for the first time today and the handle you lift to open the flap to access the boot broke in my hand. Anyone got any ideas on a fix or replacement?

Thanks in anticipation.

Is it like this?

If so, I'd arm yourself with the info from the thread as some have had dealer push-back against a warranty repair. Good luck.

Mine broke on first usage. No force applied, just gripped it and it came apart.

Replaced under warranty with no fuss.

Update: booked car into local dealer and guess what, told not covered under warranty. Cost of replacement = £291. Rip off.

Sent an email to Skoda Customer services. Looking for a second hand part now. How frustrating and poor.

Well, following an email and a phone call to Skoda UK, the hatch has been replaced and they have said for it. Still can't believe it costs so much. To be fair, Skoda UK were on the money and really good.

Realise I'm resurrecting an old thread but you can add me to the list of people who've suffered from this particular issue. Have successfully used the latch on a handful of occasions but this morning it snapped clean off. Booked in at Simpsons in Colne in a couple of weeks but they're not commenting on whether they see it as a warranty job until they've had a look at it themselves. Hopefully they won't play silly beggars and force me to escalate, plenty of precedents just on this site!

And, while they've got my car they are going to investigate why the battery has gone flat twice in the past couple of months. No fault found so far but in 40 years of driving I've never had that issue with either new or older cars.

Wish me luck!

Have a read of this thread. Some dodgy batteries used in previous years.

Yeah, have seen that lots of other owners have had similar problems. Mine has a Banner battery and according to the two AA guys who've attended this isn't the type that was causing major problems a while back. Bizarrely the last AA guy said he spends most of his time at Leeds Bradford airport starting cars that have been parked up for a week or two. Hard to believe in this day and age but who knows?

Hi,

just to let you know that I had the same issue on almost 3 year old car. Item replaced recently under warranty without any questions. It seemed the Skoda technican knew about the problem.

Must check mine as I have to go to the dealer to sign a couple of forms they forgot when I collected my Superb.😘

Anyone still driving around with a broken handle can try this.
