Parking Sensors problem

Hi, the front and rear parking sensors have recently stopped working on my mk2 elegance estate.

 

When engaging gear / reverse, I am getting a continuous bleeping noise for a few seconds and the display isn’t picking up the sensors at all.

 

i have done the clicking test (and cleaned all the sensors) and all 8 sensors (4 front and 4 rear) are clicking away, so any ideas what the problem could be?

 

any ideas would be great.

More than likely a duff sensor, get a scan with VCDS and it will tell you which one has gone.

The scan will tell you what is not working, it doesn’t have to be the sensors but they are the most common parts to fail.

A scan is advisable as stated but when I upgraded from an older parking module to a newer one which needed a second speaker I had this issue until I fitted the second speaker. At a guess I would say one of your speakers (one under steering wheel cowl and one at foot of passenger b pillar) is goosed.

Hi Adamal, funny you should mention speakers cos I heard a bang noise from what sounded like the driver footwell around the time that the sensors stopped working. Will investigate further

Sounds plausible. They are quite cheap thankfully. Try item 263052531133 on ebay for example.

I have a similar issue (rear sensors only). If it is the speaker, are these easy to fit diy?

Yes just a bit of trim removal and swap over the two pin plug. The rear speaker will be behind the trim at the foot of the passenger b pillar.

Hi I have a rear sensor fault and am Mk2 scout with rear PDC sensors, I have tried the clicking test but none sound, I have used a tester and this states open circuit, would this then be more likely a wiring fault, sensor or control module, I do get a 3 second bleep and the reverse lights are working.

Any help would be appreciated.

Open circuit to what? Have you plugged VCDS in? 
 

if one is faulty it turns the system off so none will work, you need to scan with VCDS and it should tell you if a sensor has gone down.
