The Yeti is on its original wiper blades and they are over 3 years old. They wipe OK but are very noisy at the start and end of each stroke but don't judder. I guess they have lost some of their suppleness.

 

Anyway, time to replace, but what is best? Original VW/Skoda, Bosche or anything else?

Bosch is first choice for me every time. Tried most of the rest, but find it's a false economy.

..just got myself a set of "valeo" from "carparts4 less"...arrived within 2 days and took about 10 seconds to fit! (easiest set I have ever replaced)

 

Made a huge difference, a lot quieter than the old ones, which give them there due are probably the originals, (3 years and 14k miles).   

Thanks for the replies. Have decided to go with Bosch from Amazon. Much better prices than Halfords who want £32!

That's £4.41 dearer than exactly the same blades from Amazon 3 posts higher.

I bought a Bosch set of front wiper blades for my Rapid Spaceback just now from Euro Car Parts. Down from £40.00 to £26 with code winter35.

It is one of the most satisfying things you can do to your car - 2 minute job, inexpensive and the results are incredible - you'll wonder how you managed to see through the smeary, blurry screen before you changed them.  And the silence....oh the blessed silence when they wipe!

Amazon is equally as bad as eBay for cheap Chinese copies, the rule of thumb with both sites is to make sure you buy from a reputable seller and not just the cheapest seller.

I try to wait until the frosts have gone before replacing blades as ice wrecks the edge of the blade when they brush the screen. Also I regularly wipe the blades as the diesel film residue picked up on windscreens degrades the effectiveness of wiping.

I forgot to say they were the easiest blades I have ever changed. Literally one minute a side.

They fitted well and the quality is 1st rate as you would expect from Bosch.

In spite of being an Amazon regular, I can only presume that the price I paid was the best available at the time (April 2018).

About 2 minutes as it was me that posted it.

An associated point, I found it beneficial to properly clean my windscreen as I had a bit of judder from accumulated road/exhaust crud as well as car shampoo wax, I use MUCK OFF, a pink degreasing solution for cleaning  motor bikes, it does make quite a bit of difference especially at this time of year

I replace mine atleast annually.

Yeh but in Wales they are never off 

 

Mine are currently 3 years / 51k miles old and work as perfect as day 1

Our first ones lasted 34 months.

Yes, I went for the ones direct from Amazon which weren't the cheapest so hopefully they will be genuine.

Mine lasted 3 years and nearly 30k. miles though I'm only commuting 40 miles a day, 3 days a week now. Only reason I need to replace them is because of the noise.

 

Funnily enough we've had to replace them more often on my wife's Mini even though it's low mileage.

The original wipers on both my Yetis only lasted a year (Valeo) they just tore off. I switched to Bosch and they last much longer no squeeks or juddering.

I replace mine on the basis of "do they streak, judder or have torn rubbers?" rather than on a timed basis.
