Featured Replies

hi there hope all are well, just once again have to say this car is great gave my mates 2ltr 140 sri vectra a hidding last weekend lol he was not amused any how cut a long story short i am approaching my nest years no claims (finally) but with the plans in place and funds avalible I cant get an insurance quote from anyone (even adrian flux mailed me saying no can do) so was after some guidance if you could help brill,

mods (i want to do)

remap approx 180 bhp

full exhaust sytyem ( dont know who yet)

lowered by 3 cm

pd160 intake and filter

replace front grill

and black lexus lights

grooved/drilled disks front and back (prob diamond ones)

having stated my intentions no one wants to know (no work done yet)

any ideas who to try i am male 24yrs old and 3yrs no claims

or am I dreaming (due to age)

Admril - They will insure me with a One Click anyway.

christ knott - insure me with 1-click and strut brace..

You could try admiral as mentioned, but they wont want to know if the % increase in BHP is over a certain amount. The remap will be your current sticking point, I dont see an issue with the other mods.

If you still dont have any luck, maybe put the remap on hold and wait till you are a little older, over 25 should help quiet a bit.

elephant,

try confused.com as well, often a good starting point

cheers all I did try confused but basically no and majority opted out lol will keep trying

been to adiral and they quoted 1356 for everythin bar the remap

i could have upto 26% increase but jumps to 2kish and upto 10% goes to 1800 ish

so will prob go for everythin bar the map and save that for when i turn 25 as no point in paying all the extra for an extra 13 bhp - 30 bhp will only save a second 0-62 :thumbdwn:

I reckon its the Lexus lights putting the premium up, drop them as they will look c@ck anyway

Personally I would go for that option (i.e. do all the work but don't bother with the remap till you're 25).

Benefits (apart from cost) is that the car is ready for the remap properly and you will get a much better handling car.

Not a fan of the lexus lights personally but if that's your thing, go for it. I would say one thing on cosmetic changes to the outside of the car - they need to be declared too. Annoyingly this tends to mean yet more cash.

Below 25 is the killer for the money side of things, my wife for that reason cannot be insured on the vRS, and I remember when I first got my license the insurance cost me FOUR times the value of the car with 3rd party, fire & theft only  (admittedly I was in the UK on Dutch license, no NCB yet).

Yet another benefit of waiting is that your NCB is probably getting into the number of years where you can protect it, which will help keep the NCB in case of a minor shunt or something.

Good luck though & hope you find an insurer :D

Try A-Plan. I can't think of the number, but you'll find it on scoobynet.com (Insurance Section)

I have my scoob through them. I don't think they're just Subaru specialists, but they're very "mod" friendly and gave the best quote with mods included over everyone else.

Also try Greenlight or Brentacre - both mod firendly insurers

I'm 24 with 1yr no claims and with Elephant, they will let you do all of those things (at a price) but be careful, as their policy is to only replace components with OEM standard parts in the case of an accident.

If that doesn't bother you then they will definitely let you.

Don't forget this will need to be a Trunk Call..:D ..[sorry couldn't resist]
