Temperature sensor

Featured Replies

Hi,i have a skoda fabia,i changed the temperature senzor but the light in on everytime i'll start the car. After is getting warmer if i'll start the engine again the light is off.Is posible that the thermostat to be the problem?

Which light, the temp one? If so, it's often caused by dirty sensor probes in the coolant tank. I presume the coolant level is correct?

+1 on that. Same happened to me, if the coolant level is within max-min level and the lights still on, then changing the header tank should fix it. Worked for me

Thanks guys, the light that is on is the thermometer and the coolant level is ok.If it will be the same i think i'll change the coolant tank.More people were saying that the problem can be the thermostat but i don't have problems with heating, everything is normal.Thank you again for your advice.

As long as the engine is not overheating, I personally would change the coolant header tank but if it is overheating then you may be looking at other problems that changing that tank won't solve. Do you know if it's overheating?

The lamp should go off if you short the plug connected to the expansion tank.

Okay that's great, then my advice would definitely be to changed the coolant header tank first or short the plug connected to the header tank suggested by Sep if your comfortable doing that

Coolant bottle is only a few pound and takes minutes to change. Very common for the sensor inside the bottle to corrode and being up the temperature light.

What year is the car?

What length is the belt that's on it? (Will be 1453, 1460, 1873 or 1880, and will be printed on the belt)

As you can see here, there was a small change of length in mid-2003 for some reason, so you may have the wrong belt fitted if a replacement has been bought and fitted without checking the original belt length or these details.

It could well be that the noise is coming from a bearing in one of the tensioner or idler pulleys, items 4 and 5 on that page.  Can sometimes be fixed by peeling back the dust seal of the bearing and introducing some new grease if they look dry.
