Central locking fault?

Featured Replies

Hello, I've been a member of this group for around 5 mins so im sorry if I've done or do something wrong.

Right, I have just bought a 56 plate skoda fabia vrs mk 1 which has the following problems

If I do the automatic window on the drivers side it instantly comes back down so I have to hold the button to close it.

When the drivers door is open there is no light on the dash warning me its open

The Boot doesnt unlock when using the inside lock

When I use the inside lock every door locks apart from the drivers door the lock indicator sticking out the door card goes down and comes right back up

When I exit the car it doesnt tell me I've left my lights on but I also have a faulty light switch I think because my front fog lights come on when my main beams are on, I'm not sure if that would affect the beep, I know the beeper works as it goes off when I need fuel

When I get In the car it locks itself meaning I need to put the key in quickly before the alarm goes off

I'd just like to point out everything on my key works the indicators flash and when the drivers door is opened the interior light turns on which is what confuses me, from what I've read online it's some thing to do with central locking but I'm not sure

Thankyou for taking the time to read this and I am looking forward to hear any suggestions

You need to replace the drivers door lock while it will still open.

That will fix most, if not all of your problems.

Hello thanks for helping, do I need to replace the button or just the lock mechanism itself? Or both? Also would this effect the immobiliser or stop the remote from working I dont know if it all links together, thanks.

It's all linked, just replace the entire lock mechanism, it's been covered on here many times before.

Your headlight switch probably needs replacing as well, also a common failure.

Other thing to do is to inspect the wiring inside the door bellows, as some of the issues might be due to a broken wire or two there.

Door lock microswitch is most of the trouble though, as said.  Can be replaced separately, but you've still got to go to all the trouble of getting the lock out, and then the risk of your repair not working when reinstalled.

Just done it on my daughters car. Read this thread. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/460823-rear-hatch-release-more-joy/ I had many of your symptoms. Car locks itself. Boot catch won't release unless you open a back door or the passenger door. No lights on beep, cabin light action, door open warning, no fuel pump action if the drivers door is opened. Sadly I didn't act quick enough and got the keys locked in the car. Had to break a window to get in.

Window bouncing down is due to the motor sensing too much pressure resisting closure and a safety circuit kicks in interpreting that as possible childs head about to be crushed. Might respond to cleaning the window runner channels and lubricating them with some silicon spray like 'dash shine'.
