i always thought manufactures quoted figures that were sometimes a bit optimistic , i just didn't think it would be that close to 130 bhp , the engine does seem to pull better with the intake pipe and filter with less sooty smoke though.

yeah, but i think Skoda quote 130bhp at the crankshaft so to get that at the wheels with all the losses is pretty good !

146hp isnt that close to 130hp, remember figures quoted by manufacturers are always at the flywheel or clutch as Awesome call it.

sorry i thought the skoda figures were at the wheels , does that mean i'm even better off then:D

It certainly does, well done :D

Nice result. Was waiting for someone to put a std one on their rollers. My remapped vRS made 149WHP

went to the Seat rolling road session at Awesome gti today , less cars and people there than what i expected only went because my mate was getting his leon cupra R done (221bhp at wheels) anyway couldn't resist in the end not to put my fabia vrs on the rollers, it was only £35 to have it done, standard bar pd160 pipe and green filter , it managed 132-133 bhp at wheels with between 240-250 ft lbs torque , and max 146bhp at clutch , i was quite happy that it actually made what hp skoda quote for it  now might do some more mods like cutting slots in the o/s wheel arch and remap. there was also an ibiza tdi130 which made 126-127 bhp but the lad said it was standard. couple of octavia there also ,a vrs with a FMIC 200+ bhp, the other a 4 wd estate .

What time were you there, was it the black Octavia vrs with the FMIC at about 3-4pm that you are talking about, if so that was me, I made a very healthy 220bhp at the wheels and 255lbs ft torque, my car is stage 2 remapped by AGTI and APR, look at the attached plot, how early the peak torque comes in and how long it sustains it, on the road it absolutely flies, around town you can treat it like diesel and leave it in a high gear letting the torque do the work!

We were doing some comparisons between Gary Morts similar spec Golf mkiv and my car, the maps are very similar power wise whilst the way the power is achieved is totally different, my APR map makes it from timing and low boost (27 degrees of advance and 16psi) whilst gary's is made from high boost and low timing (21psi and 18 degrees of timing) The end result though is that the cars are probably pretty much maxed out on the Standard K03S Turbo's.

What I like about the APR Map is how smooth the curves are and this translates to very useable power and a silky smooth engine.

I have discounted the figures from runfile 020 as these were done with another 2.25 Degrees of timing advance dialled in to see if anymore power could be gained from extra timing, marginal torque gains but at the expense of the smooth delivery of the other 3 runs

Danny and I were there from about 11 till 2, I didn't realise more people would be coming after that, it was very quiet by then. Danny made 200bhp at the wheels or there abouts, looking at your nice graphs maybe he does need stage 2 Revo to make the most of his mods. I didn't go on,

i think my vrs was after your car daver , i wasn't going to put mine on the rollers but my mates egged me on , so i'm glad i did now , if only to show other owners of fab vrs what a stardard vrs makes on the rollers . i was impressed by the fmic on yours . my mates 210hp leon cupra r with apr remap and air filter made 221bhp but the operator said he reckoned the MAF could have been faulty because it just didn't feel right .

If i'd known others where coming i'd of hung around but i left about 2pm when

Dave H left as it was getting quiet.

my car made

200.99 bhp

271.85 torque

212.04 clutch power

the guy that ran the car said that it ran better on its 3rd run which is tribute to the effects of the FMIC and that i could probably run higher settings but i left it as it was as i don't have an SPS device, will probably look into getting REVO stage 2 to see if i can squeeze anymore power out of it:thumbup:

Daver looks like you got some very good figures:thumbup: ,nice to see theres still more power available from the k03s :D

Now thats even more confusing mate ....

So my first run was 225.74 clutch figure then 208.5 and then 194.46 I thought that the true reading was the at wheels which I got 173.20

Beedie had his standard fabia vrs on the rolling road at the star performance open day last saturday and it was 140bhp unfettled  . think its an 04 plate.

No manufacturer quotes power at the wheels, always flywheel (clutch).

My 180bhp 1.8T should have made 180bhp at the flywheel (clutch) when standard, yours should have made 156bhp.

Tuners also quote power at the flywheel (clutch).

Your decreasing figures over the three runs will point towards heat soak from the poor smic.

And then the at wheels figure includes the transmission losses therefore giving you the actual road figure?

I am now trying to work out my flywheel figure and it appears to be 205 bhp which would then support the 200 bhp figure if you quoted the flywheel figure and not at wheels

So my clutch figure was 225.74 which leaves me even more confused ...

this is my readout on my fabia vrs if it helps, its all french to me tho..

cupra Si , i was there at 9.00 as well , maybe i just thought there would have been more there , never been to a rolling road open day ,i suppose 20 cars is quite a few for the timescale , mine went on after 1pm, it was a good day though so thanx go to the seat club who organised it and to awesome for hosting it

People usually come almost when they want, think we had 15 at 9 am and then people were still coming at 2 pm .. people normally get the figures and just go which is a bit of a shame

No, at the wheels figure does not include transmission losses.

wheelpower + transmision losses = flywheel power.

If you have a 205bhp clutch figure then what you were quoted is correct.

If the 1.9 130 bhp engine produces about 140 bhp ,what horsepower does the 2.0 140 bhp engine produce? Do the two engines basically have the same power or is the 2 liter engine more powerful?

I've seen quite a few standard PD130 engined cars produce 129 - 131bhp at the flywheel, so I don't think it's the norm for one to produce 140+ as standard. Especially not if it's done less than 10k.

2.0 TDI doesn't give much more than promised either (I've heard of some giving 160bhp but seriously doubt all of them would go that well). My friend tried his golf against a standard vRS and they were pretty much even. The Golf is a bigger car so the extra 10bhp doesn't help that much.

The car was later fitted with a tuning box and only then got 160bhp. Most noticeble at the low end as the tuning box tends to follow std. boost curve which gives good amount of torque (400nm) but the power drops after 3000rpm. With a remap you can expect 170-180bhp with about the same amount of torque but keeping the power better up.

BTW, when measuring a car you should always rather look at the usable power band rather than peak power figure.
