There might not be a very long built time but a no deal Brexit might put a 10 or 20% levy on imported cars. I have signed up for a new 245 Challenge Edition, ( Due Early May ) paid my deposit but I have a get out clause with the dealer ( in writing ) that if the levy is applied I can cancel my order and have my deposit back or if needed pay the extra

May turn out to be a wise move. I see on the BBC website that Porsche (part of VAG group obviously) have said they are going to slap a 10% levy on prices if a no deal brexit happens.

  • Welcome!   This has cropped up previously and is indeed manually "foldable" as standard.  The £210 is for the electrically "folding" mirrors.  Very sneaky.

  • AFAIK auto-dip only operates correctly with memory seats (as the memory is also used to hold the mirror position).   I coded auto-dip and found the same as you so I never use it now.

Just having a look at Autotrader and see several 2019 Vrs 245's for sale.  And as you can see from pics, no electric folding mirrors as std.

No wonder SashaGrace keeps updating her car from it's poverty stricken std spec :D

May have said this before - went to look at a 3 series touring b4 opting for my Octavia -  ex-BMW management car, several thousand on the clock, loads of extras but they hadn't specified electric folding mirrors. I questioned that decision with the salesman (a few other basics missing from the car that aren't even on BMW's options list). It was the same salesmen whom I'd bought my BMW's from before, and who walked with a limp. He just slapped the drivers door mirror with his hand and said there you go, as easy as that.  I replied "Did you wear your knee out Danny with constantly walking round to the passengers side to slap that mirror shut?".

Well I thought it was quite witty if he didn't. :D

...On reflection, might be a bit callous! (Geddit? On reflection... Mirors)!  That said, I can't remember a (Modern) car not having "Foldable" Mirrors... Basic self preservation!

I couldn't agree more.  I remember when internally adjustable door mirrors meant a little joystick. Perhaps back in those days, Skoda definition of internally adjustable door mirrors leaning out of the window? :giggle:

I realise manufacturers play the "specs correct at time of printing" get-out-of-jail card in their brochures, but to specify foldable or folding mirrors on specific models only to find every model has manual folding mirrors? WTF.  If it's enough to confuse the person selling the car, I wonder how the law would see it?

Perhaps the next generation Octavia will specify a remote fuel filler cap - you then find out they mean one that you can't access, it can only be opened by a SEAT service centre?

Poverty stricken!!! I have a full leather interior in my car. Find me an MY19 vRS with one of those! This is one of the deciding factors in keeping my car rather than upgrading tbh. I guess it was such a pricey option that few people took it. I’m so glad the first owner of my car ticked the box. Shame he didn’t tick the pano roof, power bootlid and KESSY boxes while he was at it, but you have to stop somewhere I suppose! I like to stop when there are no more boxes to tick which is another reason I’m not changing the car haha.

I'm old enough to remember wing mirrors. They were the bees knees and did not fold. Adjustment was tedious.

Door mounted mirrors are pretty recent to me and many people did not know they were foldable. I demonstrated it to a few drivers who looked on in horror as they thought their mirrors would snap off. Like the original versions might do.

It's because owners of newer Vrs don't like cows being slaughtered so that we can sit on their hides.:biggrin:Just realised we have 3 leather sofa's in the house doh.:tongueout:

The new one gets half leather in some cases! I’m all for saving cows, hence keeping my car, making the most out of its materials and preventing another car being built to replace it. I am trying to sell my old manually folding mirrors (to keep us somewhat on topic!) as I’d rather not bin them. They seem to have little value though unfortunately.

I’ve ‘only’ got a SE L, I’ve no idea what that means but, I’ve got auto dimming rear view and auto folding wing mirrors, I’ve also got auto wipers and lights including headlight washers.

I DO have leather and suede seats, is this why?

I do love my gadgets, and this car is packed with them! :)

The SEL usually comes with 17" alloys as standard so either the first owner specified the smaller 16" alloys (probably a no cost option) wanting a more comfortable ride but also cheaper tyres come replacement time. Nothing to worry about if the small size doesn't bother you from the looks angle.

Tbh the 16’s don’t bother me at all, as you say they’re more a comfortable option. I came from a convertible mini (with 160 litre boot!), it had hard suspension and was, though a quick Cooper a very uncomfortable ride.

Looks wise, I personally think it’s current wheels suit the car

The SE-L has some kit the vRS doesn’t get as standard. The vRS added xenon lights, LED rear lights and lane assist above the SE-L but lost out on stuff like power folding mirrors. The gap has shrunk now.

Still not craving the SEL's power folding mirrors then Sasha?:envy:

Sorry thought it was on your very long bucket list (things that the previous owner should have ticked on the options list).

At one point in time, the 16" wheels got the SE L into a lower VED class

My 2013 Octavia 2.0TDi SE had indeed 16" alloys and was 109gm/co2 so was £20 road tax.

This makes sense, my VED is zero

You must have the 1.6TDi engine then and 99gm/co2.

I know Scots are supposed to be mean but I'll buy you a new jigsaw + metal blades if you decide to go ahead with the pano roof :giggle:

Power bootlid should be simple enough and I'm confident you'll get KESSY at some stage. Just make sure you've got good theft cover first.

More good news Sasha I will cut the whole for the roof if you draw the line for me as my eyesight is as good as Prince Phillips when pulling out of a T-Junction during low sunny conditions. What could possibly go wrong relying on a Scotsman and an Englishman to help a Welsh damsel (might lead to some distress however).

WRONG WORD

Haha, I like the pano roof but not that much! I’d really like the power bootlid but it’s a step too far unless the parts are cheap. KESSY requires so much faff it’s not worth it either. I miss walking up to the car and just having it open like my Mercedes does. The worst thing will be replacing the Citigo because if we go for a Fabia 3 SE-L they have KESSY as standard and then my Octy’ll be the odd one out! Must restrict the OH to an SE lol :D

If you cut the whole roof Sasha will have the worlds first Octavia convertible estate.
