WHAT TO DO WITH MY OCTAVIA?? Breaking the car will break my heart

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

My Skoda Octavia vrs has been our families' trusty steed for the past 5 1/2 years, but now its time to say goodbye.  It has developed a thirst for oil (it doesn't leak it, it burns it, and turbo was replaced but the issue remains), and I can't get to the bottom of the problem, so its time for me to move on.

But what do I do with it?

It still drives really well, and oil consumtion problem aside, the car is sweet.  Everything works with no glitching, it's been very well kept, the interior is lush (you'd never know it's done 170k miles!), and the exterior is good also with just a scrat of paintwork damage on the rear bumper.  It would give me great joy to know the car remains on the road, and it seems a shame to consider any other option.  But...

I've just auctioned it on ebay, and the winner messed me about (no-show twice, then went silent on comms), and I'm left with about 10 days of temporary insurance remaining, and about 5 weeks MOT left.  So I'm feeling pressure to find its next home sharpish.

Can anybody offer any tips on what I should do with it? I am sensing that it may need to go to the breakers, and that would break my heart, as well as perhaps be the least favourite option financially.

Thanks for your help

You could join Freedom and either advertise it for sale or for breaking on here but I’m guessing that you really don’t want the hassle of car parts on your drive?

Stick a bottle of stop oil burn product in the engine and keep it going for another year.
