Fabia estate mk1 2001.

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

just bought a mk1 fabia estate 2001 recently. It’s my first car. The rear seats need changing out. I’ve heard or read somewhere that seats from other cars can also be fitted which have the same fixing layout. Can anyone shed some light on to what these are as I can’t find that list again.

what other things I should know about this model. I’ve read about the door seals.

I only got a standard non remote key with my car. Does this model come with a remote key?

Lastly the boot release abouve the number plate doesn’t work. Can this be replaced on its own or do I change the whole door?

if theirs anything else please let me know.

Thanks in advance

Shabir

Seats - Polo 9n/9n3. Seat Ibiza MkIV. Fabia MkII. All bolt straight in.

The door seals need sealing with a sealant if they have not been done. I would expect most have by now, but you never know.

Yes, some have remote key central locking - mine's only a Classic but it has it. It must have been fitted as an optional extra.

Open one of the rear doors and then see if the boot release switch works.  There is a microswitch in the driver's door lock unit that stops the boot opening if it's faulty. It's very common.

Door sealing video...

@Shabir - You need to state the trim level before we can say if your car had standard remote locking or not.

I believe mine is the classic. It’s preety basic.

Has anyone one had any luck fitting a satnav phone system into one?

Also the boot release handle when pulled works, you hear the boot door release, but I think the switch under the number plate doesn’t work. Can this be changed on its own

@TMB what year is your classic. When I pull the boot lever next to drivers seat, the boot does release. It’s when you go round to the boot, the doors partially open but still latched. I tho k the mechasim

under the number plate is faulty.

Mine is 2003.

Give this plunger a good push and see if the spring is working...

From factory? Fair play, I stand corrected. Manual windows and remote central locking?

No, front electric windows. Well, they were to start with. I had it so long that both windows packed up and I replaced both with manual. As far as I know they were factory fit, bought it at 1 year old.

A classic with electric windows and remote central locking? Thought that was comfort spec but there you go.

Mine had rubbing strips as well, otherwise pure classic.

The flipside is, dad's got a Comfort, and it doesn't seem to have ever had a remote key.

My classic had rubbing strips too. However we used to fit them on everything at PDI.

My Classic has no rubbing strips. PDI boys must have been feeling lazy that day :D

Did classics have fog lights as an option? one around me has them but that mightve been a bumper swap
