Yet another EFB AGM question

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm thinking of upgrading from the EFB battery currently fitted to my Yeti L&K to the generally accepted superior AGM type. I do realise the information regarding the change will have to be entered by VCDS. My question is would it be okay fitting the AGM type, using the car for a very short time, and having the required update done to the system when I was able to arrange it.

Thanks

I have just changed the battery on my 1.2 tsi, everything appears to work but in my case the battery was the same spec. exactly as the removed one...Not sure about the charge rate or the stop/start only changed the battery today, Couldn't care less about the stop/start in this neck of the wood two cars at a junction is a traffic jam. Check Halfords they are having these batteries manufactured I think by Yuasa they have some still branded as Yuasa which they may want to clear. I bought the EFB version for £96.00. If the charge rate is up the spout then a trip to Halfods will sort it

no problem using it for a "while" without coding the new Ah rating into the VCDS

simply means the alternator won't charge the battery up to its max,

which for a short period will do no harm, whereas longer term it could shorten the lifespan/performance of the battery.

Tayna Batteries now offer a local fitting service, personally  wouldn't trust Halfrauds to change my airfreshner.

Thank you very much,

That's just what I wanted to know. It would only be a very short time, probably only to reach the guy with the coding equipment.
