Oil question

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I normally get my 1.2 HTP Fabia serviced at a local garage, who always put this oil in:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Comma-SYN5L-Syner-G-Synthetic-Motor/dp/B002RPJ6B0/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1550657273&sr=8-14&keywords=5w40+oil

However, looking on Amazon, this stuff is cheaper:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Comma-XFG5L-X-Flow-Fully-Synthetic/dp/B002XUR3LE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1550657539&sr=8-1&keywords=5w40+oil

I've looked on Comma's website and it doesn't seem to say what the difference between the two oils is.

Does anyone know which is better, and why?

Cheers!

Both say (on the front labels)  they are suitable for engines requiring VW 502 00 specification so either should be fine.

If cost is critical, you may well find 'own brand' oils in Tesco/Asda/etc. that also meet that specification and are likely to be another step downward in price.

I would personally recommend this, which is only a quid more and delivered to your door: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-VW-VOLKSWAGEN-5-LITRE-QUANTUM-PLATINUM-ENGINE-OIL-5W-40-IZGB115QLB01521/223150047252?epid=5023316032&hash=item33f4c78014:g:I2wAAOSwridaIWK1:rk:1:pf:0
