Lead times for factory builds?

Featured Replies

Dealer saying 14 weeks. But has anyone got one recently and therefore have real-world experience of lead times? (someone mentioned 6 weeks).

Does it make any difference with how many/what options I order? Don't really know how it works!

(VRS manual estate).

Manual, yay. Another supporter ! I ordered my manual estate with options in beginning of December, started getting built on 18th feb, told to expect it to be delivered in 4 -6 weeks.......

Blimey. 10 weeks to even start building it, and then another 4-6 weeks on top, seems a long time!

I'm so flippin impatient, if i want a new car i want it now!

My first VRS took around 16 weeks, my recent one took 8 weeks. If you want a factory order then sadly you might have to wait.

Yeah, want mine too. Really frustrating but hey ho, good things come to those who wait......

i ordered my VRS at beginning of Jan. due to spec it had to be a factory order. Been given 18th April as estimated delivery to dealer...so around 14 weeks. i’m told this is about average for factory fresh builds.

Remember if their lips move they might by telling porkies.  Even in writing they lie.

Averages are made from low to high figures.

To be a 14 week average when many have waited over 26 weeks & still waiting in the last year,  there must be many getting delivered in just a couple of weeks.  Not!

Jeez, 26 weeks, any specific reason for a delay that long? (ran out of parts for a certain option or something?)

Wouldn't want wait 6 months for a car

ps. if they do quote (say) 14 weeks, and you still haven't got it after (say) 6 months, can you cancel and get your deposit refunded? I guess it's up to you and the dealer what you agree in writing as your contract, but what's the standard terms?

(been 17 years since i ordered a new car, so it's all new to me!).

Exactly!!  Look at my sig.

My mate ordered same time as me and been told his has been built and should be with him in 2 - 4 weeks....

VW Group, so VW, Skoda, SEAT, Audi, Porsche etc are getting cars into the UK ASAP right now.

Pre April.  As it is the want the 'kelly' / cash money.

The WLTP thing should be in the past it is not though.  Build build build and get cars to the UK, get them ordered and sold, leased and First Registered is their mission.

Obviously they are pretty crap at managing that, they prefer that Dealerships 'Manage customers expectations',  keep their orders..

Ordered start Dec, Meteor Grey VRS 245 DSG with BLind spot monitor, front assist & folding mirrors , built build week 6 and just arrived in UK this week, fingers crossed for delivery in 2/3 weeks max surely,  to door in 14 weeks?!

You would think all of our cars would be here pretty soon surely? Grrrr, hate waiting !

Be thankful that Skoda got all their WLTP testing sorted. The VW I have on order was ordered end of January and I’m being vaguely quoted July for delivery :crying:

I did have an octavia on order placed end of October which was expected in April, so that would have been about 24 weeks...

I was also quoted 14 weeks, so bought a stock model already sat in Emden. It took 10 days to get it over and ready for collection, I was very impressed.

yeah, tempting, but I think i'd then regret not getting the folding mirrors, due to being impatient.

I think all the stock cars only have spare wheels, and no other options.

Yes that was the case with mine. It was a shame not to be able to spec it up a little, but the standard VRS features were a already massive upgrade from my 9 year old Golf :)

Any news this end of the year guys?

Ordered SE L with heated seats (Gets cold in Norn Iron) first week of September. Been told build week this week (28/09/19).

Are they telling porkies and when will it appear at the dealers?

For me, I ordered mine 2019-08-15 (week 33), it was built week 39 and collected it at the dealer 2019-10-24 (week 43). So I waited 10 weeks in total. Could have collected it one week earlier, but I was on vacation in Spain then.

I live in Sweden, don´t know how much that does on delivery times compared to UK.

Mine was exactly three months from order to handover. April - July.

Sorry folks realised an error in my post. Build week was this week - 28/10/19 not September.

Love my current Octavia but alas the new one was pretty well unobtainable in DSG form.  There was ONE car out there somewhere which was offered to me for almost 6.000 down !!!.  I was told a factory order would be no different

and then they did not even seem to know when one might come along -- the dealers were blaming this rush of new vehicles by Skoda on to the market.   I Think it is going to cost Skoda business in this country - I have had a rapid, Yeti, Karoq and Octavia but now have moved across to VW.

I mean there are no mk3 factory orders, but I imagine VW Ag will be chuffed that you moved up from Skoda to the more expensive/profitable VW models.

The dealer said I could go for the factory order but it would not change the nearly £6k up front.   Afraid I am quite elderly and VWFS had no flexibility in the nearly £6 k up front whereas VW dealer did
