Front & Rear brake pads

Featured Replies

Hi have a Skoda Fabia reg MM06HVE would that make it the Mk1. Looking to purchase front & rear brake pads & have been

Informed there are 2 different sizes just want to make sure I order the right ones. If anyone can advise be much appreciated, Thanks Len

So, it looks like your car is a 1.2 ?V Fabia, so I would not think that it has rear discs.

For a bit of clarification on the front discs, do the callipers has FS111 or what cast into the housings, you can see that through the wheels or if steel wheels probably not.

Really if planning on working on brakes you should have the confidence to work that out your self on that car as it might just save you another visit to your parts place.

Hi Rum4mo,

Not with car at the moment. You have just reminded me it has front discs. The rear will be drum. Will look at front calipers as you mentioned. It is a 1.2 if its 2006 model am I right in saying it is a Mk1. Thanks for your help.

Yes, and I have just stuffed your reg into ECP and they are as helpful as usual if just going by reg number, so that means your car has 239mm or 256mm or 288mm front discs and rear discs or drum brakes - brilliant!

I think you can see the caliper markings through holes in the steel wheels, if a hole is lined up with the right spot on the caliper. I think I have done so. Will probably have to take the wheel trim off first though.

@Len1 - It might be better to search sites by chassis number.

That way certainly works well if using brake manufacturers like TMD Friction website parts cat, who are one of VW Group brake pads factory suppliers - there are others though.

Edit:- someone recently called ECP, WRP and I'm sure that many people can relate to that!  Once you know which parts you need, ECP is okay for location and prices though, so as I said, do your homework before leaving home to avoid many wasted journeys.

Surely you must know whether you have a Mk1 or Mk2 Fabia? They look entirely different....
