Paint peeling near the boot? 2015 L&K 2.0 DSG

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I noticed today i've got some paint peeling off near my boot, has anyone come across this? If I had to guess, i'd say someone hit the back of my car and flexed the bumper, but there's no damage to the bumper anywhere (and the layer of dirt is still intact).

Maybe with the recent warm and cold weather the bumper has expanded and contracted? I don't know...

Thanks,

Dez

Have you had the car from new and know not repaired / resprayed since collection when new?

Just as well you have a Paint Warranty so best read the T&C's and report to an Authorised Repairer / Main Dealership.

They can arrange an inspectiuon and report by a Trained & Qualified person after their Warranty Manager has checked it and taken pictures.

It will need checked to see if the Factory finish or a repair from the factory / transit or since.

If a Factory Finish or Repair pre collection from the Dealership and the start of the Warranty they can fix it, or if it had a Warranty Repair already.

Cheers for the reply, only had the car since Dec 31st, the dealer  (independent not main dealer) didn't say anything about it having been previously repaired, but then I suppose they wouldn't say anything if you couldn't tell!

I'll nip it into my local Skoda main dealer on the way home, I know they've got one of those machines that tells them how thick the paint is (to see if it's original paint or a repair) as they repaired the boot on my Superb under warranty about 6 years ago

Yeah, looks like a poorly preped, cheap n quick repair.

Or a bump. The bumper will flex as it does it’s job of absorbing the energy without transmitting damage to the bodywork and return to shape after a low speed impact. However the paint finish is likely to be less flexible and can crack.

The damage looks more like new impact damage to me and this will not be covered by the warranty.

I see the pics good on a PC.

So a KerbSide Autos type paint job.

No proper preparation and not to Factory Spec or even a Poor Factory spec.

Once Skoda have someone check it and not just the paint thickness but the actual paint used, if they knock back a warranty claim best see a proper Body Shop as they will need to strip it right back.
