More than likely its the switch which is located on the left hand side and behind the box. I had the same issue and the dealer fixed it under warranty.

Left hand switch perfectly works.

Have you checked that apart from physically working that the contacts actually open and close with e.g. a multimeter.

Excuse me for asking - but you did check the glovebox switch and not the door switch (sorry had to ask )?

So on the drive home with my car (per signature) I found that the glovebox light also didn't work in my car.

However, if I closed it slowly, as it was almost closed the light would suddenly pop on.

I located the switch and indeed it appeared to be working fine, plunger was moving in & out and there was no reason to think that was at fault. I gave it a little bit of WD40 treatment and actually it started working.....for about two days.

As my car was still in warranty I took it to main dealership, they replaced that switch and the light has been 100% perfect ever since.

However, certainly when I was "messing with the switch plunger" it appeared to be fine - it however, wasn't.

I did the same Stoofa. The light did not work at all when I puchased the car. Checked the bulb and it was ok but there was no voltage on the contacts. I located the switch and was able to get it to work, but only intermittently. Seemed the switch was sticking so when the glove box opened the switch was still open circuit. As the car was still in warranty I mentioned it to them when it was in the garage for another issue and they sorted it. Its been fine ever since.

My light doesnt work at all. There is a switch on the middle left side of the glove box..i have managed to push it..it seems it plunges perfectly..so what else i should check?

Just because it moves doesnt neccesarily mean it is switching, there may be a broken contact in there.

Yoh can check the light fitting you show in the photo above by swapping it with one of the boot lights if you think there is a problem, they are the exact same fitting.

Going off experience both on here and in life, its more than likely the actual switch itself.

I think the same too..i can see a batteey or resistance (whatever it calls) in the actual switch..could that be faulty?

I have already put a new bulb..but  it wasnt fitting properly..then had to push the metals down.

Pull the Electrical Connections off the Switch and connect the 2 Wires/Connections with an unfolded Paper Clip and the light should come on.

Didn't quite get it.

He's saying that all the switch does is provide a connection bewteen 2 wires. If the switch mechanism is broke this wont happen. A way of probing this is to replace the switch with some kind of electrical short (in this case a paperclip) which would mimic the switch making a contact

Guys, all of a sudden the light started working.and again it stopped..so if i fiddle with glove box then it works....so it must be the switches..do i need tk take the box out to find the switches?

I have managed to figire out. It is the plunging switch..if i pull it then light works..well,how to fix it...it seems its hard and doesnt want to come out unless you pull it or bang the door.

Problem sorted..i push the plunger on the right and all of a sudden i heard some click and now plunger switch very easily goes in and out. Light works..Cheers guys.

open your glove compartment and you can see the switch on the left hand side. A torch helps. To get better access, remove the glove compartment. See your manual for the procedure or look on youtube.
