Buy a Mk2 Fabia Vrs then simple remap will give you the desired 220bhp less hassle and probably less money too.

Not a great answer if the OP likes driving a diesel (and some of us do).

Not easy to extract an extra 90bhp from the 1.9Tdi engine though. Won't be very economical with 220bhp and traction might be a bigger issue with no fancy diff unless more expense by having to fit one. At least the Mk2 DSG gearbox will help deploy the extra power desired. Trying to make constructive advice when people may be choosing the wrong option. Their cash, their mistakes.:crying:

While I agree that a ton of supporting mods will be required, it's actually trivial to obtain 220BHP from the PD130 engine, a simple turbo swap and remap will accomplish that objective.

However, a FMIC and new clutch and flywheel are almost essential, and bigger brakes and handling mods are strongly recommended, a LSD is desirable.

220 BHP is the sweet spot for PD tuning and is pretty commonplace on here.

What turbo would be the best for this car

What turbo would u recommend to get the bhp I'm after an also what intercooler should I put on it

See if this is still up for sale? That'll get you to 210!

PM @andsoutham to see if he still has it.

I had 240bhp from a gtb 1756 turbo, needed supporting mods such as fmic and hard pipes, sachs sre cluth and upgraded pressure plate, pd150 headbolts

you cant just upgrade the turbo, you need to do the supporting mods or your car isnt going to be reliable and the power will eat the clutch up pretty fast, unless you can get it mapped to be gentle, but where is the fun in that?!

Don't forget a new clutch and flywheel, you're looking at £2k even if you do all the work yourself, £3k if you don't.

GTB1752 is the turbo you need, FMIC comes down to your budget and DIY ability, a new DMF and uprated clutch kit is £1k fitted.

If this is starting to sound like your annual big mac budget then just get the standard turbo remapped to 165 BHP, you'll still lunch the clutch but you can cross that bridge when you get there.

On the above advice - are you trying to be the fast guy off the traffic lights or do you want a fun car to drive? My heavy stage 1 octy feels plenty fast and good to drive after adding a RARB and stage 1 map.

My wife's 54hp petrol fabia mk1 is bucket loads of fun but isn't the fasting thing out there by any means.

I´ve done the Ibiza big intake conversion, k&n filter, front mounted intercooler, clutch, flywheel, clutch release bearing and a tune.

0-62 in 7.2 secs on winter tyres and I have the long FJM gearbox installed.

Honestly it´s a lot of work, probably only worth it if you really like the car :-P

Could have saved yourself a few quid by ditching the pointless mods like all the intake stuff, you don't need to touch intake or exhaust until you're over 220 BHP, in fact it's more reliable if you don't.

my advice would be get rid of the crappy kkk pd130 turbo swap for a Garret pd150 descent map and maybe a fmic if funds stretch if your side mount is in mint condition then maybe stick with that as smaller IC= less lag = 180-190BHP and 310+ ftlb  of torque

 PD150 Turbo -£600

FMIC and hard pipes -£400

good map -£350

probably get 100-200 back for your old parts

dont get hung up on BHP when really its the torque that counts

in gear speeds on the mk1 fab vrs running pd150 turbo are amazing

Standard clutch is good for 310ftlb which is plenty imo

It's nothing to do with lag, side mount gets heat soaked so performance fades pretty quickly, if you could magically move the same intercooler to a front mount position then you'd see a dramatic improvement.

A standard clutch is fine when new, the problem is a worn clutch won't hold the torque and the chances of buying an old car with a brand new clutch are almost nil.

yeah bigger intercooler +pipework= more lag but lower charge temp

more time to fill the space with compressed air

In theory that's true, however in reality you won't notice, you will notice the heat soak though. Diesels are not as sensitive to charge temperature since detonation isn't relevant like it is in petrol turbos but the power fade is really obvious.

Audi TT vent arch mod time? I've felt the power fade though. Utterly sucks.

On a Fabia it's pretty straightforward to do a front mount since there's plenty of room for it, however it does cost some money for the parts.

My concern is that the OP will simply ruin his car by chasing mindless bragging rights.
