Can anyone point me in the right direction for PAS pipes?

Featured Replies

I believe there are two different pipes that are related to PAS.

can anyone send me a link to them?

What's up with yours?

****ed apparently

If it looks like there is a bulge in one of them it's meant to be like that. The pipe has a rubber sleeve over it and there is a metal ferrule under it that makes it look like it's bulging.

It’s been into the garage today and they’ve told me they are both leaking, one is spraying out a mist

Ah, OK.

Too get it fixed I’m either going to have to do it myself or (more likely) get a more mechanically minded friend to do it

I got an early warning at MOT time about corrosion becoming an issue on one of the steel pipes that connect to the rack - so I wasted no time in cleaning these pipes up and painting them with Hammerstein!  Though maybe your issue is with the ones that are part flexible.

Generally speaking, there will be a pipe from the pump to the cooler in the radiator area, a pipe from there to the rack and a pipe back to the pumps reservoir.

Edit:- without having worked on these pipes other than painting the steel sections that get bombarded with road grit etc, I think that access will be very limited so a high lifting ramp would be either needed or make this job a lot easier.

I suspect with mine it’s the part flexible ones. Garage said their were two. To be fair I suppose if i ring them they will tell me which ones they are.

I’m hoping I can pick some second hand ones up

It depends if your steering rack is TRW or Koyo. Most seem to be TRW.

It's written on the filler cap which is conveniently hidden under the battery :D

Oh bother bother, what/who can I blame?

Edit:- that was not even close, I think that I need to check if auto corrupt to enabled or not as it is happening too often, either that or maybe get a brain reset/restore.

''Auto corrupt'', I like that

TRW caps have vertical side ribs on them for gripping the cap, Toyo Koto I think have a different pattern for the “gripping ribs”.

Take your pipes off and have them repaired at a hydraulic hose shop.

Different dipsticks too.

Stupid question but where do I find one/search on google for?

It is stupid, however I always find something like:

"Hydraulic hoses near me"

Can yield useful results, careful not to miss-spell hoses or you might get an eye full, there are definitely some things that cannot be unseen.

^ Yes but that's only the Koyo one.

These are the hose part numbers for RHD 2004 Fabia 1.4 mpi with TRW rack, which I'm pretty sure yours will be but make sure...

TRW...

Pump to steering gear: 6Q2 423  893E (or 6Q2 423 893F after July 2004).

Return hose: 6Q2 423 891F

Thanks. Are the pipes from a VRS likely to be transferable to my old heap? (Assuming same steering rack)
