Hi everyone, thanks for the help with choosing a towbar etc.  I have a couple of questions about a recent Kenwood GVN60 SatNav upgrade to the Bolero head unit. 

Does the TMC require activation?  If so, how is this done please?  I have the 10 digit identification number from the subscription menu

This is what you need. 

 

Btw, you may need a TMC aerial after activation- I did. The dealer charged me for it but fitted it FOC. The aerial is about £25 and foes up the passenfer side A pillar, easy enough to do yourself.

 

Maps for the GVN60 are a bit pap,  my unit was fitted when I bought the car last august and was the 2015 edition. The latest SD map card is 2017 at a princely sum of £75 from the Garmin websut iirc.

 

The upside is Garmin Satnav (and not Skoda maps/software), I've been using Garmin for work for theast 10 years and I'm perhaps a little conditioned to them!

Hi, thanks for the info, As far as I am aware, the kit came with an FM aerial - I presume that this was installed, I will ask the dealer tomorrow.  I have called the Garmin number on the pdf but they say that I don't have an account!  However, I emailed them my request for TMC activation together with the 10 digit ID number, but have yet to hear from them.
