3rd Birthday Party

Featured Replies

Well, the time has arrived to send the car for its first MOT.

Has anyone found anything failing the MOT or being given an advisory that surprised them.

Mine is 3 years and 11 days old :) No issues reported at all at MOT time / 3rd service.

MOT last October.

Pass with advisory on small chip in windscreen that I was aware of (and not repairable) and a cut in a tyre sidewall that I wasn't aware of.

Had to search to find the cut and when I did it was minuscule with no depth but something for me to keep an eye on. At least it shows the tester was thorough.

Mine was MOT'd at the end of January, no issues (I had had the front tyres and a chipped windscreen replaced beforehand so was hoping it would be ok!).  Wasn't really expecting anything to show up for a 3 year old car so that's good.

Last week had MOT -

Advisory on rear discs and pads -rust and failing apart.

Nail in tyre

Resulted new new discs and pads.

Passed with flying colours, no problems other than one tyre looking a bit old (being the only original left on the car).

I renewed my rear discs and pads

Was told at mot to keep my eye on the front no advisory but just to watch

I think it’s more down to age rather than mileage, due to the quality of them being crap (mine were changed at 52K miles and just under 3 ½ years old)

As far as I know mine are still original, 3.25 years old and nearly 99,000 on them now.  Haven't looked recently but I know there was a little corrosion but nothing major, occasional grinding noises if it had rained a lot while the car stood overnight, that sort of thing.
