roomster door lock part number

Featured Replies

Progressing from MikeThelms thread, about failed door lock:

I have the same problem, left rear door lock on my 2007 Roomster 1.6 auto has failed work (can only operate lock by thumping gently while unlocking).

I got a pic. of lock part number label from inside the door, it is 75A 5J7839015A, dated 17.7.07.

I asked for a price at the dealer, he quoted GBP 81.71. Ouch.

Looked at ebay, and found 2 listings (same address, different seller name) Roomster lock, left rear, fits Roomster 2007 - 2010.

Part nr. listed is 6Y0839015A and at approx. GBP 28.00 with 5 year warranty seemed the right solution.

I asked for confirmation it will fit my 2007 Roomster, was asked for actual OEM part nr. was then told ' sorry it wont fit your car'.

Has anyone out there experience if the 5 year warranty lock part nr. 6Y0839015A in fact will replace 75A 5J7839015A  and seller is being over cautious?

OR, can I replace the lock with a later one 75B 5J7839015B ?

Any info. about this will be welcome, as 80 pounds + for a new lock is really eye watering, especially as I am also having to replace a n/s front door loom, and rear door seals just to keep the car useable. Thanks.

As far as I can see, the 6Y- part number does not supersede to the one on your car, and the one on  your car isn't superseded by the suffix-B part number (nor anything else).

I use oemwolf.com to check such things; have a look yourself.

Thanks for the answers, very sensible. Dealer parts dept. says 'A' coding is relevant, and that 'B' is not compatible.

Also, 5J is Fabia / Roomster and 6Y is a different model. Was very helpful, confirmed lock price at 98.05 incl. VAT.

So, it will be strip / inspect /repair faulty lock when weather improves. I may consider buying a 28 pound lock and using parts (e.g. motor).

Thanks again.

Have you checked the wiring loom for broken cables within the plastic bellows?
