Cancelling 'Service Now!' Alert

Featured Replies

Just had my first service but the mechanic hasn't reset the 'Service Now!' alert.   I rang the service department but they say it necessitates a visit back to them as it needs plugging into the computer.  Is this really necessary? is it possible to do it from settings?

Thanks

G

If the car is under warranty then I would suggest it is best if the garage does it.

If you paid for the service which was not completed then they have to pay your expenses to return, and ask for your hourly rate.

Or they can send out a man / woman with the gear and an idea to reset the Service Indicator which is part of the Service.

Thanks for the replies, with a bit of luck I will go tomorrow and get it done.

Doesn't it tell you how to reset it in the manual? It does in mine.

ignition switched on whilst pressing one of the buttons at the bottom of the dials works - can't remember which though.

It depends on the model, and then if on Fixed or Variable Servicing.

If on Fixed then usually easy to go into it and reset to 9,400 miles / 372 days.

Easy for owners even small children, maybe not Factory Trained Technicians or Dealership Fitters.

I did try holding the trip button in And switching on the ignition, it said it was reset but it wasn’t. Been to the dealership this morning ‘technician ‘ used a laptop to reset it said it was probably a poor Wi-fi that didn’t do it the first time Lol

thanks for all your help

G

Amazing the technology they have at their disposal, all the gear and no idea and bad Wi-fi /Bluetooth.

The BS function was fully operational though.

I agree

  • 2 weeks later...

info I've observed from other posts ..... have just used it to reset my oil reminder as changed the oil yesterday, worked a treat.

Face Lift 1.2 TSi Yeti

================

Service indicator

1. Turn off ignition,
2. For full service reset turn on hazard lights. Skip this step for oil service only.
3. Press AND HOLD the trip zero “0.0” button (lower right of speedo dial),
4. While keeping 0.0 button pressed, switch IGN to fully ON but DO NOT start engine.
5. Wait till the "reset" message appears on the Maxidot screen, then release the “0.0” button.
6. say yes to "reset" (press the the “0.0” button again)

The oil reset is the same just do not turn on hazards at step 2
1. Turn off ignition,
Job done.

Thanks Halford.

Oil reset worked perfectly.

Just noticed this on my Yeti when turning on the ignition. At first I thought it might be a warning of low oil level.

So if it's just a reminder to change the oil, is it simply triggered by the number of miles the car has been driven?

Mine was serviced by Skoda in October 2021 so only 4 months ago and we don't do big mileage.

It's time, miles driven and oil quality.

Skoda mustn't have reset mine then, or they didn't change the oil at all. Four months and not many miles shouldn't cause it to activate.

You could reset it yourself; but only to zero!

In 5 years of Yeti ownership Skoda serviced my car 3 times. Twice it had to go back for a reset. On one of those occasions I witnessed the plug in under the dash and the reset being done. A short while later it hat to go back again. I was told at the time the issue was known about but obviously a fix has not been found.

Even when I had the vehicle serviced elsewhere I had to return the car.

What do you mean by zero?
When I have reset either service or oil inspection it has reset to about a year or 10,000 miles.

If the car is set for Fixed Service Intervals and you reset the Service indicator it was to 372 days / 9,400 miles.

Now with newer cars that might be 365 days not the year and a week on fixed servicing.

Resetting those on Variable / flexible servicing is different.

If the method above is used to reset the variable/flexible it will revert to fixed 1 year service.

On some vehicles not all , different ages of vehicles and different models make a difference.

Plugging in and changing different again from what can be done on the stalks, buttons on dash, or the hazard lights on way.
