Small incident lots of error codes

Featured Replies

Quick background first, wife bumped the car into a post, reversed out and ripped the bumper.... Doh! Hit kerb as well and burst the tyre wall. This was all at less 10mph. Anyway come home from work and put the spare on, car is pulled to the left quite a bit and the steering wheel is off centre.

So I'm planning to get the alignment done but now I just got a whole bunch of errors pop up in the dash, see image.

I connected to carastia for more info and got the following:

Central electronics:
204546 - Remote key 2 - current too low

Parking/steering assist:
13637426

ABS:
00288 - Steering Column Lock Actuator (N360)
16401 - Crankshaft / Camshaft Position Correlation Sensor B Bank-1
16412 - Intake Valve-Bank-2 Control Solenoid, Circuit Range / Performance
16413 - Exhaust Valve-Bank-2 Control Solenoid, Circuit Range / Performance
16418 - Turbo Charger Bypass Valve (N249), Control Circuit Low

Heater & air conditioning:
329220

Front passenger's door:
65639

Driver's door:
65639

Engine:
17158

Infotainment system:
01637 - Ignitor, rear tensioner, ps.side (N197)

Some of those codes could be historical - they don't clear automatically, so clear them all and see which ones come back, those are the only ones you need to sort out.

Either she hit at more than 10 mph or one error has started a whole lot of others giving false indications.  The trouble with all this electronics. they always err on the side of caution.  The fact the car is pulling to one side looks as though it was a hefty collision with the post / kerb?

Sounds like at least the suspension may have been bent, which suggests 10mph may have been a "conservative estimate".

Guys should have said, when on the jack I shook the wheel to see if there was any play and had visual check of things, no play and everything looked ok...

Going to get the alignment done, could the alignment be so bad it's messing with the ESC/ABS?

If the strike on the kerb was enough to puncture the tyre, it could well have misaligned the suspension.

yep. the rest? the key is a battery problem and the pressure because you haven't reset the system since changing the tyre.

Yeah, was hoping not, will need to put it in to the garage I suppose.

EDIT says that 13637426 is essentially a "plausibility" error for the steering angle sensor. So yes, the suspension is probably bent, likely to be the track rods IMO.

EDIT2 says: "10mph" - aha... I doubt that *very* much. Unless it was sideways into the kerb / post and even then... this is a £1000 bill to fix correctly and £400 to do on the cheap IMO.

I have reset the tyre pressure system and I know the battery in the key needs replaced. It's the ABS and engine error I'm concerned about the most.

Thanks

Hopefully the track rods/inner tie rod, that won't cost so much... Fingers crossed thanks
