Soundproofing

Featured Replies

Anyone on here tried sound proofing the rear of the car ie boot floor and wheel arches? Thinking about doing this and just wondering how easy  is to to remove the lining inside the boot.

Hi @donny1972 - there's a fairly big thread on this which may provide some useful information on what you might want to do / use :)  - HERE

let me know if you need any advice B)

boot, arches and floor are easy, external arches are also easy, doors as trickier as it requires removal of window motors and wiring to do it correctly.

This is a known problem with the model ,like mentioned there's loads of comments on the subject. If Skoda could have cured it by putting extra material sound proofing in I think they would have done it. People have mixed opinions as to what exactly is the cause.

Road noise (and engine boom) are low frequency sound which need an awful lot of heavy sound deadening/damping material to absorb.

Some automotive consultancies spent an awful lot of time and money researching how to control these noises effectively, and the only low cost and low weight method found was electronic cancellation - but even that was too expensive to be fitted to most mainstream makes.

The cost (=higher price) and weight (= emissions increase) of this are likely the main reasons that it's not fitted to Skoda models.
