Another door lock / CL question.

Featured Replies

Afternoon all, before anyone starts, I've searched but have come up with too many contradicting and long winded posts. So here's my issue / symptoms;

LH rear door - doesn't lock / unlock with key (isn't deadlocked and opens / closes freely by manually locking and unlocking). This door doesn't activate the interior light or "door open" sign on dash.

RH rear door - doesn't lock / unlock with key (also isn't deadlocked and opens / closes freely by manually locking and unlocking). This door does activate the interior light and "door open" sign on dash.

My initial thought is both door locks need replacing (I have full replacements from a working car). Can anyone affirm my thoughts?

Also, is there any guides on rear door lock replacement - the link I had saved from pimpmyskoda evidently isn't working anymore.

Cheers

Between the doors check the block connectors. I’ve just gone through this horrible process. My door didn’t open, was deadlocked and the motor failed! Plugs corroded and melted. Followed the guide on here and some help from friends.

As above.. check the connectors and cables for corrosion and breaks.

If all okay replace the mechanisms.

I assume they're located below the panel that is directly under the drivers / passengers front seatbelts?

You can pull the grommet out of the b pillar and/or door, where the cables pass through and get at them from there.

Afternoon all,

Just stripped down the LH rear door, plugged in new working lock mechanism, and still doesn't work. The door open light appears on the dash, but nothing else happens...

What next?!

Is that replacing both the loom and lock motor? If not you might need to do.

I've not changed the loom, but I have continuity checked all the wires leading into the lock and all are fine.

It's getting power (shows on dash and interior light illuminates) where it needs to, just not locking / unlocking.

I've continuity checked the wires from the large white multi plug (window motor) to the lock mechanism and all are good.

I think the problem may lay between the door shut connection and the back of the white multi plug - there's some wires where I'm not getting continuity.

Quick update, managed to find a single wire snapped, resoldered and all working. Looks like I have a spare working door lock mechanism, just incase. This was from the door plug (b pillar) to the back of window motor.

Now, only have the RH door to fix, but that's another day.
