Fabia bushes

Featured Replies

What's the deal with replacing wishbone rear bushes on the Fabia? They look like you have to replace a whole section of the subframe!

I've got Powerflex udders in there at the moment, but the bush is beginning to split. And I'd rather not die just yet.

Did mine a few months ago. Dropped the whole subframe assembly on the drive at home. The alloy consoles which carry the bushes can then be eaily removed. The stock bushes have a nylon type outer which is easily chiselled through for removal. The difficult part is driving in the replacements without causing damage. I rigged up a makeshift puller using a spring compressor - just about got away with it!

Cheers teedeeye - that's very helpful. My mechanic and I were both standing underneath the car completely baffled by the whole thing - it's a bit different to the older VW stuff that we're used to. We both though you'd have to buy a bush assembly complete with the alloy consoles!

Would it be better to use a hydraulic press to fit the new bushes? And how much were they?

There is a special puller that does the bushes in situ.

Bushes are a couple of quid each. The complete console is around £60 + VAT. If any bolts for the subframe are removed they must be replaced and torqued up.

Ohhh, so it's a main dealer job if you want to do it in situ, or you can take it all apart and do it on a press. It does need doing, so I'll take a trip to the dealer's next week.

Did the Nissan replace the pickup?
