1.4 petrol milage

That's pretty much what I get from my 1.2TSI DSG - Average over the 2 years since I got it (new) is 34.50 mpg with a high of 38.95 mpg although it's hardly 'run in' yet at 6,300 miles :) .

That’s a bit low, I am averaging 44.66 MPG (over 18,000 miles) with my 2017 1.2TSi DSG, worst has been 38.52 and best 47.86. All measured on tank by tank basis on brim full to brim full basis. The worst was a high speed motorway drive to the Southwest into a howling SW gale and best on a summer tour around Dorset while on holiday. In normal day to day use I get around the average of 44.66 plus and minus a bit depending on weather etc.

My previous 2012 1.2 Tis DSG returned 42.64 over 50,000 miles so the later belt driven engine is more economical than the earlier chain driven version.

I generally use Super grade supermarket petrol because I find the higher octane provides better low speed torque and returns 2-3 MPG better mileage which balances slightly higher petrol price.

Yes I agree it's low compared to what others get. Perhaps it's down to the fact that I'm carting a spare wheel around all the time and a full tank of petrol most of the time (I panic if it gets to half full even though I rarely go more than 10 miles in a trip  ). I always fill up (to the brim) with Tesco Momentum. Perhaps it goes off between refills, sometimes 2 months apart :).  My proviso is that there are 4.54609 litres in a gallon and my odometer is accurate :) .

Yes, I also always fill to brim to wait till almost empty before refilling. I guess your continuous short trips will reduce mileage particularly if each trip is much less than 10 miles.

..disappointing to read some of the typical mpg's relating to 1.2's, as they seem to be worse than I get out of my 1.4 (4*4). I have been thinking about changing it as I don't really need 1.4 ltrs and 4*4, and I had considered getting a 1.2 as I do like the Yeti's practicality...(Maybe an Altea?)...
