Suggestions for VCDS mods

Featured Replies

I'm about to collect our new (to us) fabia. It's a colour edition, 1.2 tsi 90bhp. What vcds tweaks are possible on this model? What would everyone suggest?

Needle sweep, cornering fog lights.

There's a list of alot of vcds tweaks somewhere.

Here's a vid of my 1.2 tsi 90 (SE L colour ed) doing needle sweep;

You won’t be able to get cornering fog lights.

On my wife’s Colour Edition, I did the following...

- Needle sweep

- Hill hold

- Rear daytime running lights (top section of ‘C’ only)

- Front daytime running light dims slowly when indicator is active.

Thats it really. There isn’t a huge amount to do really.

Thanks for the advice. Hill hold is definitely something I want.

Doesn't work on manuals unfortunately.

That's poo. Not a great deal that can be done on these then.

Needle sweep and fog lights it is.

Have a look at some of these;

Your car may have the DriveGreen menu already, press the "Car" button on the radio, and the left selection button on the touchscreen should bring up "status, drivegreen, etc", if not, then you can enable it. Gives you an eco score rating.

The Refuel Volume is kinda cool, though it seems to be based on needle position, i can fit about 10L-15L more after the needle hits "Full", though it's useful as a rough estimate of at least how much you will spend to make it go to full mark (though you can put more in after that point).

Needle staging is what i have, though as i like to preserve my fog lights (a family members Yeti had soo many foglight bulbs fail), i didn't bother with the cornering lights. though it is there as an option.

Looking at the picture of the car you posted in particular, it doesn't have front fog lights (oddly? - i thought fog lights were a legal requirement?), if that's not your car, check if yours has them, if not, you can get them retrofitted by your dealer, at a cost, of course.

At least one on the rear, but not on the front.

Thanks AG Falco

How is that black and white car a 'colour edition'? :D

Use some kind of VCDS coding tool, vag-com, carista, odbeleven etc. And follow the instructions to change the cars config to turn it on.

Black roof, black wheels, black wingmirrors vs white everything else.

non colour edition would just be white all over, likely with silver alloys.

Some colour editions have white roof/wingmirrors/silver alloys (lot rarer though, only seen one and that was on autotrader lol)

alloys alone wont tell you, ive seen non colour editions which have the black alloys. Its all 3 parts being different to the rest of the body.

I’m going to be doing DRL rear running lights on mine. New here but gone quite a bit on my A3. Does anyone know if any standard Fabia manual has hill hold as an option? We need some scans!

Hill hold does work. There could be two versions of course. What I’m refering to is the hill hold that stops the car rolling back for a few seconds after the brake pedal has been released.

Yes, the Audi has auto hold that holds when stopped but doubtful that’s possible on manual.

Looking at skoda's configurator (for the SE-L at least). It would appear that while all manual gearbox cars have the feature as an option, there's no such option for the auto, which could mean it either isnt an option, or it comes as standard.

That is of course while ordering a brand new spec car. So i'm unsure what options were available in 2017 etc. There's been an LED facelift which did bring a couple of extra options, though i'm unaware of any specifics.

While i was looking through my MY16 fabia (late aug '15 plate), vcds options, i could not find it anywhere. There were a few things i had hoped i could use, but was unable to unfortunately.

I’ve got led on mine will have a look and see what I can find I doubt auto hold was ever an option. Hill hold should be possible.

  • 4 weeks later...

Just to let everyone know, I managed to enable Hill Hold on my Mk3 Fabia (2019 MPI). I tried Carista originally and it wasnt an available option, so purchases OBD Eleven and there was an option (tick box) in the VCDs bit listed in the Braking section. Using the codes from the VCD options post at the top of this forum, I managed to enable it. It came up with an error about the tyre pressure monitor but I just cleared/reset on the cars screen. Once I removed the OBD Bluetooth device it worked!

Is yours auto or manual?

Yes, I've had mine a few weeks and still learning and trying different things. I've been in touch with Carista and I'm going to send them my cars `debug date' which will enable them to (hopefully) add to the Hill Hold to the Carista app.

I doubt they will be able to add it until the code is discovered usually by the professional vcds tools.

The code is in the VCD post bit in this Fabia Mk3 forum. I used the info from there to apply it to my car via the OBD Eleven app/dongle as it allows you to enter VCD codes etc. This is why I contacted Carista and asked them why I couldn't do it via their app and they asked me to send the debug data so they can look into.

What year is your car? I know the early mk3s abs access codes are available. Mine is a FL 68 plate.
