Cruise control not working - related to remap egr delete and EML?

Featured Replies

Could I ask for advice please!

I have fitted a remapped ECU to my Mk1 VRS - EGR deleted in the map - and this is a BLT engine. This coincided with the cruise control no longer working.

If the EML is on does this inhibit cruise control and can the EML be permanently reset - I have reset it using an OBD tool but it comes back on after an ignition cycle so clearly the remap triggers it every time.

I've seen threads that seemed to say the EML cannot be mapped out on a BLT engine - and this would be an MOT failure as well - have I got that right?

Cheers,

It's not the remap that's triggering the CEL, it's the alien ECU itself, the rest of the cars modules don't recognise it because it's not been recoded to match.

I'm guessing from your post that the remapped ECU is from an ASZ?

Hi - it's supposedly from a BLT - but would the same alien ECU issue still apply if that was true?

Is that issue also related to the cruise control now not working - i.e if I got my original ECU remapped I should see both EML and cruise issues resolved?

Yes and yes.

Many thanks for that - lack of knowledge on my part was the root cause then! I will look to get my own ECU remapped in that case - really liked using cruise control so do want to get it fixed. Appreciate the helpful answers!
