Had my car "tweaked"

Featured Replies

Got my car back from Star Performance on Saturday morning. Thought i would give you guys a quick write up of how i found it.

Car is a 04 reg Fabia VRS in red with 16" elite racing alloys on it.

For a start i had it put on the rollers as standard, and got a yery respectable 140bhp from a car that quotes 130 (not bad :D )

then had the old favorites done. PD160 intake and K&N filter, then had the Star treatment. switchable remap giving 170bhp. not to shabby for 20 mins work.

took it for a drive and was amazed by the feel. 6th gear pulled like the old forth and everything was so much sharper.:) :) Pulls from 1500rpm right through the range all the way past [cough]insert speed here[/cough] mph with loads of grunt:D :D :D

then left my car, in the very capable hands of the boys at Star, for the week to have it services and KW coilovers fitted along with SEAT strut brace.

was not expecting anything to be done until friday, as Jim told me the parts wouldnt be in till then, but phoned up on tuesday to find everything was done and they even reset my one touch windows (without being told they wern't working)

Asked for a drop of 40mm which in hide-sight is too low, scraped my way over a few bumps:mad:

the ride is now slightly firmer but biggest improvemnt is the roll reduction! stays flat though corners even when pushing a bit too hard.:)

gave the car a good wash on sunday. including clay bar, polish and wax. first time i have used clay and cant recomend it highly enough. makes polish and waxing easy.

also cant recomend the mods enough. they give an ear to ear grin every time you notice them.

Big Thanks to Star Performance

(and blackmagic for making me feel guilty bout having a dirty car, just read his guide in Styling section)

Will post some pics when it stops raining:thumbdwn:

Over and Out

Good Man!

There seems to be a lot of Scottish interest in detailing and performance upgrades, is it because of the good roads and lack of acid rain?

don't forget the snow, gail force winds when you're in a vally and my favorite, sunday drivers every day of the week not actually going anywhere

Aah but with an enhanced motor you can pass them, still hold the road, and see the look on their faces in your shiny reflections !!

Still having fond memories of a blast to Brora many many moons ago in a long dead Metro Turbo !!

lack of acid rain?

You obviously dont live near Grangemouth or Rosyth Dockyard

No Mate, sunny Yorkshire, just good memories of good weather, a decent woman and a fast decent handling (for its' time) car, althugh it was my brothers car and it destroyed itsself after 18 months from new !!

Happy to hear Star have bewen good to you. Wan't to get switchable re-map soon. Will have to wait till i get back from a holiday with the government to afford it. ps, I'm not in jail.
