I have a seat leon at the moment with 170.000 on the clock and it still runs great just I want a 4x4 estate car with a big boot and a bit of power.

this ones been mapped to 190bhp

anything I should be looking out for on these cars please ??

Hi @sealover1

Is it a mk1 or mk2 octavia Scout?

If its a 2007, im very very sure its a mk2, in which case  if you have a nosey around in that sub youll get a better set of answers...

i dont know if its a mk1 or mk2 how do i tell which it is. are you saying look at the sub on it

yes its a MK2 the change over was 2004-2013  so can anyone advise me please

I've got one, and it's an excellent car. Biggest issue is the DPF. It's not really integrated with the PD engine.  The common rail TDI that the facelift cars have is apparently much better in this regard. Chances are with 190bhp the DPF will be history anyway.  Mine gave me so much grief I had it deleted and got it remapped to 180bhp.

The chassis is generally solid, all the VW group cars based on the mk5 Golf are well engineered and built. I'm a service manager in a family run tyre place, and have done countless wheel alignments on Golfs, Leons, A3s and Octys. Plenty have mega miles, and are still on original running gear. More than can be said for plenty of other makes. The rear eccentric adjusters seize around 80-90k, so they'd need replacing if the back end's out.

The only other problem is with the air con. I've had two garages trying to fix my AC, and neither of them could find a leak. If I get it regassed, it's all gone within a week! Common problem apparently. Great car though, really good on our so-called first world roads. Completely unstoppable in all the snow we had last winter too.

Regards, Marge

The Octavia Scout wasn't available on the MkI Octavia, I think the mods moved this thread here by mistake, should be over in the MkII forum...

I don't know if you have fixed this already but I just had a similar issue  fixed yesterday. When going over bumps I could hear a "clonk" noise. It was not coming from any side in particular but rather the complete width of the front axle which led me to believe it could be the anti roll bar. It turns out that the arms that secure the  anti roll bar were long gone and allowed for that clonk. Drove it yesterday and the noise was completely gone.

Hope it helps.

ARB drop links are very common to wear out, easily sorted though which is a bonus.

Tup, thats them. Different name in the video, and the 4x4 may have a slightly different setup, but essentially the same thing
